So today I was reminded of the value of thoroughly reading things before committing to them. DD asked if I wanted to do the Boston AIDS Walk with her. I looked it over, it said "Boston AIDS Walk and 5K run". I said sure! I would need a little practice to get my walking back to 3 miles after all the winter PT but it sounded like fun and I like being able to spend the day with her. Sooo tonight I was looking things over to find the start time and discovered the run is 5K, the walk is 10K I have 8 days to get in shape. Oops

You can do it. How many miles is 10K? I know you can do it.

Sweeties, I am absolutely wiped out after a day of doing accounting crud from 8 a.m. until just now. I am off to bed after early dog potty trip. Not to worry if I don't appear in the morning. We are "nearly" in balance! 'Night all!

Cyndi - you can for sure walk 6+ miles. Absolutely.

Suggestions below if you want them:

In these 8 days, stretch at least twice everyday, go for a 1.5 mi walk one or two days in a row, then go 2 miles two days later, 4 miles two days later. TADA - you will be ready for 6 miles on Day 8. If you can successfully walk the 3, you can go 6 for that day. I promise.

Drink extra water ALL WEEK, and you may need to allow yourself a few extra ww carbs, esp the night before (brown rice, ww pasta) and the morning of (I usually do an egg with ww toast for breakfast before a long run). Even "walking" takes it out of you. And make sure you have really good shoes. You DO have good shoes, right??

I worked myself up to 6 miles jogging so far (going for a half marathon in Sept) and worked it out with an Ironman trainer . . . it works!!

Be well -
