Default Neck size and necklace

Does your neck shrink as you lose weight? I have been drooling over the Return to Tiffany heart choker necklace for as long as I can remember. It's a 15.5 inch chain and I would need a 19 inch choker to be comfortable. Is this a reasonable goal or (be honest!) not likely to happen?

Hmm, definitely an interesting question! I wish I had lost enough weight to have the answer, but I actually just have a similar question. Was in a wedding a week or two ago as maid of honor, and my bridesmaid gift was the Return to Tiffany Double Heart Tag Pendant, whose chain is 16 inches long. I can put it on now, but I find it a bit too tight for my taste yet. Hoping it starts to fit more comfortably as the weight comes off, because I do love it!

I have lost weight around my face and neck, so yes I think you will find the same thing happens to you. Actually, it's one of the first things I noticed when I started to lose weight - I caught sight of myself in a car's mirror and thought 'Wow - I look slimmer!' It's surprising, really, where the weight comes off: even my bony feet look thinner!

Yes. I have about a half-dozen little necklaces from 1890s-1920s, called lavalieres. At my fattest, they rested at the base of my neck & the pendants on the end even flipped upward a little. Now they fall lower down, on the upper slope of my chest. Because there's now this flat slope of chest before my breasts begin. Before, it was all cleavage there. Also, my neck is a lot more hollowed out & the tendons are quite visible. This wasn't the case before. My throat is now one of the age give-aways.

Would they (Tiffany) make an extender? I know that Silpada Jewelry sells small chains-about 2 inches or so long that extend the length of their necklaces. This may be something to work for you in the meantime.

You can get the choker/necklace lengthened @ Tiffany & Co. for a reasonable price.

My neck lost 3.5 inches the last time I measured and that was with a 40 lb weight loss. My wrists are crazy small now so I guess I've had a small frame under all this fat I've been carrying around.

Weight loss in general will likely include your neck in particular. Everyone's different, so how much you lose in your neck as you go will depend on where you tend to lose first. I started with a 15-inch neck and currently have a 13.5-inch neck with only a 40-pound weight loss and a lot still left to drop.

tiffany extends!! when i was bigger, i had a link neclace and bracelet extended. it's 20 bucks an inch and takes about 3 weeks.

now that i've lost weight, i am getting it taken off. it's free to remove, and if you keep the extra inches/add enough on you can make a new bracelet!! or like a baby bracelet of something!!
