Default Joint Pain??

I started IP on Tuesday of last week, and although everything has been going great and I think I'm right on track, my left hip started hurting really badly when I walk. Walking up and down stairs doesn't hurt, but normal walking is super painful.

Of course, this could be unrelated to the diet, but I've never had pain in my hip like this before...I don't know if I'm deficient in something and need to start taking a supplement. I'm thinking of taking Glucosamine/ Chondroitin in addition to the fish oil/Omega3 I just started.

Has anyone experienced this after starting the diet, and did anything help? I'm a RN, so spend 12 hours a day 3x/week walking non-stop and this pain has been making my job even more rough than it already is! Plus I chase a toddler on my days off, so I want this pain gone. I'm going to try the chiropractor too, since I know my alignment is off, but I've not experienced anything like this when my alignment has been out of whack in the past.

Default Hip Pain and IP

Unfortunatly I don't have any answers, but came here looking. I've been on IP for almost 4 weeks when my hip pain (in both hips) came. I have pain with every step I take. I've never really had hip pain before and am wondering if it could be from IP. I also can't hardly go up stairs or do anything without my calves feeling like they might seize up also. It's interesting that a few people have had this hip pain. Now I wish I knew what it was caused it.

I don't have an answer either--I had the opposite experience.
Before IP I used to have very bad joint pain. I took glucosamine and it really helped me. About a month into IP I realized my knees were no longer making the scary noises when I walked down the steps and I quit taking it. The pain has never come back, my joints are in better shape than they were 10 years ago.

My sister is dairy intolerant and it manifests as joint pain...were you regularly eating a pretty good amount of dairy before (the packets have a lot of whey). If so, I guess that woudn't be it....sorry I don't have any other thoughts!

I've experienced just the opposite on IP. My back/neck/foot pain all went away while I was on IP but came back when I started adding carbs back into my diet. I take myristicol for my pain and it works wonders. It also helps your skin when losing weight.

I have been having terrible pain in my back since November. Don't know if it has anything to do with IP. Probably not. Went to a chiro and that made it even worse. Then I went and had xrays taken of my spine and they say it shows arthritis. Burning is terrible and it feels like it has a catch in it. When I take my shirt off over my head, I can hear my bones clicking in my spine. Sure hope it gets better soon! I'm tired of it!

My joints in my arms and legs are crawling with discomfort and pain. This is why I only do IP for like 6 weeks at a time. I have about 17 lbs left to lose. I'm not real sure I have the tolerance for it this round. We'll see. Personally I think it's the soy. I generally eat plenty of dairy.

Then don't do the items with soy!
I don't consume the soy protein items.

It would be too soon to see an actual deficiency. Soy can cause joint pain, as well as gluten and many other things. I feel better on IP and I have OA and Fibro.

About 6-8 weeks into IP I had major hip pain which actually was located on the side of my hip where my leg joins. After adjustments from a chiropractor I went to my massage therapist who told me I had bursitis. After doing exercises, etc. it finally was almost gone (after about a month) when the same thing hit me in my shoulder. That is almost cleared up now.
I don't know if IP had anything to do with it but my massage therapist told me if I have joint problems it could be related to not eating enough protein so I have recently started adding an extra egg white daily.

Yes. My first few days OP are full of joint pain. Knees and hips. Ibuprofen is the only thing that helps. I took it preemptively in the morning for my first few days his time around, and pain was better than last time. It was gone by day 5 or 6 for me.

Hang in there!

IP and weight loss have helped me. The only thing that will fully help me is total hip replacement in both hips. I was born with hip dysplasia.

Others have been told that the fat created pressure on the joints. With that going away, we have to increase muscle strength to stabilize the joints. Since increasing exercise improved yours, I'm inclined to agree with this theory.

Now that makes sense. Thanks for the info.

This is what happened to me as soon as I got on P3. The first of the year, I put myself back on P1 to "detox" and then gradually adding back types of carbs. I think that the main culprit is grain...not just gluten. The secondary culprit has been dairy. Havent added any fruit back yet, but don't think that'll be an issue.
Good luck!
