Default Atkins

Hi Everyone-
I'm new to Low Carb eating, and plan to start the Atkins Diet on Monday....I'm gathering my information on the web & I have a question about luncheon meats. Are turkey and hard salami deli meats OK to eat? What about sliced American cheese? Or should I mainly stick to the hard cheeses (like cheddar, mozzerella).
Thanks for the help! Looking forward to talking with everyone.

Deli meats contain nitrates and, sometimes fillers like flour or milk powder. For some folks the nitrates (and salt) in deli meats slow weightloss.

Most cheese is OK but does have some carbs. Dr. A. (may he RIP) said to limit cheese to 3 ounces a day.

You can register with www.fitday.com to check out carb counts of different cheeses and deli meats.

Keep it simple at first and you will lose weight faster. By that I mean, real food, not shakes and bars.
