How much is a serving of the phase 1 flaxseed foccacia?
Okay..so someone posted the recipe for flaxseed foccacia bread and the flaxseed muffin for phase 1 recipes.. but i was wondering what the serving size was because it wasnt specified..I want to make sure that by eating two to three slices, im not overkilling it..
I also want to know and want to know if it should count as a carb for Phase 2 and beyond, or if it is considered something else, like a serving of nuts? I have not made it yet but I am going to make it this weekend.
If there are 2 cups in the recipe and you went by 8 oz per cup that makes 16 oz. but not all ingredients are 8 oz. when you measure out a cup. Anyone have a food scale and some flax they can weigh one cup of?
Just found the recipe and checked. It's 2 cups so it's liquid. However, it's flaxseed meal which ups the GI, I think. I think I'll skip making it even though it may be OK for Phase I.
I can't remember Ruth, is there a GI number out there for flax meal? Since it's a ground seed I just assumed it's still low (like almond meal) just really high fat. This one always confuses me.
Personally I'd weigh the 2 cups and figure it out that way. I think nuts and seeds are by weight not volume? You could use all your nut servings as flax bread so whatever it works out to. I don't have any flax meal right now or I'd pull my scale out. Someone let us all know please
ETA - I always assume that when it says cups/Tablespoon it's volume and oz or lb is weight.
Yah i just made the bread and so used the two cups i could have measured on a scale.. i was just wondering if my consumption of flaxseed bread in phase 1 is inhibiting my weight loss due to fat content in flax? or carb count? and i have no clue what a serving is since you make it on a baking sheet..it doesnt come already sliced like bread does..and i guarentee you, that bread..does not give you 16 servings if thats what you were thinking.. i see only 8 if im going by the size of a normal piece of bread.
