Another round of fast storms eaerly this morning. A lot of lightning and thunder. Suppose to clear off around noon and turn colder tonight.

Annie
The only time I miss work is if I'm throwing up. I can not function.

Happy
Did you survive the storms this morning? Looks like they picked up steam after crossing the Mighty Mississippi river.

Mel
Enjoy your day.

Ellen
I'm like you, I have all the goals on working out but don't have the energy to do so. I like the FlyLady routines.

Michelle
I understand about the working conditions. I've been concerned about you.

Laura
How was your party?

Good morning ladies -

Well, I feel lousy. Okay...maybe a little better than yesterday...but still pretty lousy. It's really hard for me to breathe. I brought my nebulizer...but it's so dang loud, I'm not sure where I can use it without disturbing others. Regardless, if I need to use it, I'll use it. To heck with who it might disturb. I just wish I could get over this crud already. DH drove me to work today, and I'm so glad he did. That way I don't have to worry about being too tired to drive home. He's such a sweetie. He could probably drive me to work tomorrow...if I don't mind working until he can pick me up at 6 pm. Ugh. We'll see how I feel.

I came into work early today so that I could fax my medical receipts to flex spending. Since I got them in this morning, I should have the reimbursement check by the end of the week, which will come in very handy...especially since insurance didn't cover the $100 nebulizer.

Once I get over this crud, I'll be ready to March Forward into Fitness and Fun!

Mellie - You and I can have foggy heads together. I haven't been able to think straight in over a week (although if you ask my DH, he'd say it's been years and years). I chalk it up to either the meds or lack of oxygen. I hope your head clears up soon. Thanks for the good wishes and thoughts of strength. I know I can make it 'till 3:30. Just 6.5 hours to go.

Annie - I agree...your co-worker should've come in drunk. How freakin' irresponsible! I hope your back is doing better today. Your mom and dad shared many good years together. I hope your dad can remember the good times, rather than focus on the sadness/loss. to you my sweet sista. I can't make it on March 18th, but one of these days, I just might surprise you and go to one of your brother's gigs with ya'. Hope your Monday isn't as h*llish as usual.

Happy - I agree. February just whizzed by! I literally slept through half of it. I can't believe this is my first day up and around in nearly 2 weeks. Sheesh! I hope the strong storms pass through with no damage.

Ellen - So nice of your DH to help with Mt. Washmore. My DH helps with the laundry too. He'll wash towels, t-shirts, jeans...just not work clothes. I'm very proud of you for not smoking!! And now that the desire to smoke is less, you can jump back on the healthy eating and exercise wagon. As the Nike ad says...."Just Do It".

Ceejay - Glad you survived the storms this morning. You're very sweet to be concerned about me...I'll be fine. I'll get through this. It just may take me awhile.

Laura - Did you agree with the Oscar winners? I didn't watch, so I don't even know who won. Hope you had fun at the party.

Well, better get back to it. I do have lots to catch up on.

Much love and big hugs to all,

Hi all,

Going to try an sneak in a few personals for what I can jam into 15 minutes left of my lunch...

Michelle- boy oh boy - I can't believe how this bug is kicking your butt. If you are still so tired - understandable considering you are oxygen compromised, it means you just have to rest even if you are antsy inside. I would invite you down here for warm weather but considering everything is in bloom and we are getting almost daily tornado warnings, I'm not sure you'd do better here. Just take care of yourself wish there was SOMETHING to get you on the mend. And use your nebulizer as you need it - go use the nursing mom's room

Ceejay - how are you doing halfway through your long work week? That's gotta get you goofy after a while because you are pulling the long shift days, aren't you? It was rather windy last night but I think the Mississippi tends to pull alot of the strength out of the storms - either that or someone is looking after us on the east side of the river We did ok. All of DH's hard work in the yard is for nil now. I'm glad to hear that you are ok. I think you get it worse up your way.

Ellen - congrats on staying off the cigs. I accepted that weight loss would stall a bit. I think you made the right decision because it's so mental and when you are ready, you stick with it. Focus on eating healthy and the rest will follow.

Annie - what is an Italian roast? Inquiring minds want to know what the chef is cooking up Happy anniversary to your folks. I'm sure they are still connected in their own way. 63 years is a fabulous milestone. I hope Dad will smile instead of cry. But days like today tend to make you realize how much you miss those gone. I hope you are feeling a little better today. Sounds like you to pick up the slack of 3 not so responsible people.

Mel - I wish there was a better answer for your PC. Unfortunately, they are phasing out dial up and cable internet is soooo expensive. You are in the same boat as my Mom - she would like to have the computer but it's too costly. Tell the office you need a community PC in the office Good luck on your decision with the work - I do agree that you have taken on the world's problems and they are more intense in your building. Gotta find some balance before it makes you ill.

Shad - save your pennies for the trip. We won't move in permanently until we sell this house which God willing will be next year. In the spring. Quickly. But unless you want to stay in a barren house ... Stash will come over and watch over you. Have a good trip back home. Hope the ground stays steady and you have a good time.

Laura - your BF sounds like a man after my own heart with the "stash and dash" box in the basement. I have many of those laying around. How was the band and Oscar party? I only watch a bit of it to see what people were wearing - haven't seen the movies which I guess is most of the fun of watching the show. What did you think of the hosts?

I am still on a high about the house although I found out today we only have a verbal acceptance which makes me very nervous. The selling agent (who handles these all the time) said the government is slow and it takes about a week to get everything in line. Good thing as we are putting money out the wazootie for inspections, closings and this, that and the next thing. I have to get some pictures off DH's computer which is tough because he uses a special program and I can't just email or save the things on the network. The house is 3 bedrooms, 2 and a half baths on a little over 5 wooded (mostly pine) acres. It's set off from the road and you can't see the neighbors unless you walk the path over. There is a young family on one side, the other neighbors are part time and at the end of the road is a small farm with animals which will delight my sister to no end. The house is chalet style but instead of wood, it's has siding but has fabulous floor to ceiling windows - the west wall is almost all windows with wonderful light. It's an open floor plan which I wanted - nice sized kitchen open to the dining room and living room. Master bedroom on main floor with a 10 foot walk in closet. Really nice laundry room on main floor too. Upstairs is a loft area overlooking the living and dining room and all those great windows. Go down the hall and there are 2 bedrooms and another bath. The basement has a large rec room with a built in big screen tv cabinet and surround sound. There is also a HOBBY ROOM - huge with all kinds of cabinets and tables - the woman did quilting and lots of crafts. That's MY room. There is a half bath down there as well as a very large utility room with all sorts of sturdy built in shelves. There is a 3 car detached garage, a hookup for an RV camper, a utility storage shed AND... a MAN CAVE! There is an extra building which is a huge workshop which is heated and air conditioned. DH said to put the exercise equipment in there but it's a walk from the house and when it's sub zero like it is now, I don't think I want to wait 3 hours to heat it up. There is more storage than even I could fill up. I said we can use the man cave for renting out or even hold classes in there - computer or crafts or something - we can get creative when we have lots of time on our hands and very little money I can't wait to get up there. Am very focused now on saving money and really sorting and getting rid of stuff. My cousin has a closed trailer he will let us use so that will help alot taking a few trips getting small things moved up there.

Anyway - lunch is over. Better get my objectives for the year finished and submitted as today is the last day to do so and no one wants to be on the naughty list.

Take care...

Ellen - I didn't know your DH is in a band. And from the link, it looks like they play music that DH and I like. Unfortunately, we won't be able to make it down there on the 12th.

Happy - Yep...I'm totally in the mood to rest. I'm glad there's just one more hour of work left. I can't wait to get home, take a nice hot shower, breathe in all that steam, get in my pjs and under the covers. I think the only thing to get me on the mend is time. I will probably feel crummy for a week or two, but I'll gradually get better. If I'm not better by the time I run out of antibiotics or nebulizer meds, then I'll go back to the doctor. Another person here recommended I use my nebulizer in the nursing mom's room. I also tried using the machine at my desk and asked the people in the cubes next to me if the noise bothered them...they told me they could barely hear it and I should just go ahead. That'll make it easier to use the nebulizer as I need it rather than wait for a conference room to come available. The house sounds TOTALLY gorgeous! I can't wait to see the photos!! As I was reading your description of the floor to ceiling windows and the interior it sounds very much like a house my parents had in the Sierra Nevada mountains. Their house was also chalet style on a wooded lot (pine and redwoods). The only difference is their house didn't have a basement, so you probably have LOTS more square footage. I'm soooo very happy for you, my dear sista! I love the idea of a hobby room! Our upstairs has a loft overlooking the living room, and it has all my craft supplies in it. But frankly, it has so many supplies, and I'm so busy with other things, that I don't do too many crafts anymore. It's one of the many areas in the house that needs to be decluttered and extra supplies moved to the basement. Can you put your exercise equipment in the basement so you can watch the big screen TV while you work out? Or in one of the bedrooms so you don't have to trudge through the snow to get to it in the winter? All the storage space sounds heavenly! We don't have nearly enough storage space. Is DH going to use the MAN CAVE for his telescope? Or is your lot too wooded for stargazing?

Haven't got time at the moment to start up the new thread. If someone else hasn't done it by the time I get home, I will do it then.

Another stinking hot day - although I live in the icebox in this building. We've all had to bring in jackets and pashminas to be able to survive the office. However I know autumn is coming since my nose has started to drip again. I hope my head feels better before the plane trip on Thursday.

Ooops, better go start talking to a man in Japlish - his English, my Japanese - neither of which is very good. I will return later in the day

Hello everyone.

Annie - Happy belated b-day to Hella B. Any photos of her in her fleece barking at the candle?? Bf's mom came by today with a nice fleece toy for Coal. He's got it all slobbered up already, lol. Sounds like you had an nice girl's night. Sorry you got stuck with a different shift on Sunday. I should think people need the money and can't just call in sick whenever they're hung over... and what's with them not replacing the missing employees??!! Lots of people willing to fill them. Is your back better today?

Ceejay - I hope you're getting a break in all that severe weather you've been having. The Oscars party was nice. I ended up making a cream cheese dip w/ shredded cheddar, som chopped red pepper, minced onion, worcestershire sauce, lemon juice & cayenne pepper - recipe from my Philly Cream cheese cookbook. It was a small group this time, which I was fine with me - 7 in all. I enjoyed myself. I didn't put any special effort into my ballot, but ultimately ended up winning the "most correct guesses" award, much to the chagrin of another movie group gal. Once she realized I was ahead she started giving me $h*t about making some of my choices just moments before the winner was announced, lol. Just a little sour grapes there.

Ellen - I'm so glad you're still off the cigs - probably the best thing you can do for your health. Keep it up!! Here's to a less lazy March for both of us!!

Michelle - Nice DH drove you to work today. Hope you get to feeling better soon - work is gonna take it out of you, so I hope you can get plenty of rest in your off hours this week.

Shad - You sound busier than ever. Good you have your clothes for the wedding. Amethyst is a pretty stone - photos please!! I suppose the end of summer comes as a relief to you, since it's moderate there in the winter. I have to say, however, yard work year-round would not be for me. Or maybe it would become more routine and somehow easier if there wasn't a 6+ month break like we have here.

Mel - I agree w/ Shad - when you separate your work and leisure time you'll be less stressed and healthier. The band was a lot of fun, so I definitely didn't fall asleep! My friend had told me they played a lot of 80's stuff, so I expected a more mixed crowd, but they also played newer songs and so there were mostly 20-somethings - I felt sort of old, LOL. Not that I'd want to be that age again - especially nowadays! I'm sure there were a lot of hangovers in that bunch the next day. Bf and I didn't drink much at all, so we were fine. We had a good time and it was nice seeing my friend (the widowed one) out having fun. She and her hub's major pastime was going to concerts, and I'm sure it felt funny doing that without him.

Happy - Your new home sounds fantastic - the windows, the space, the acreage, the privacy - the QUIET! Just think, this time next year you'll hopefully be on the brink of enjoying it on a full-time basis. Re the Oscars hosts - I thought the opening playing off on the movie Inception was clever, but otherwise they just fell flat. Anne Hathaway seemed forced and manic, and I don't think James Franco looked her way even once - weird vibe there. It was nice when Billy Crystal took the stage, even for just a few minutes. I'd like him back, and I even liked Steve Martin/Alec Baldwin last year - almost anybody was better than Anne & James!

It was late nights both Sat. & Sun. and it all feels like it's catching up to me right NOW. Didn't sleep in much Sun. or this morning. Today was lazy up til my shower and trip to the thrift shop (bought NOTHING) and then to the dairy store for milk. Lunch was with bf and his mother - the Italian sandwich shop. MIL and I both had arancini (rice ball). Bf had a breaded steak sandwich. Dessert was a soft serve cone from DQ. After that was a trip to office max for a new printer cartridge. Back at home, I took doggy for a walk. Nice sunny day, if a bit chilly.

Bf and I are supposed to go to the movies tonight & use my $10 bonus card - it expires today. I'm tired, so I'm not sure we'll take advantage of it. Hmmm, maybe a short nap and I'll feel up to it. I want to see the movie Rabbit Hole, for which Nicole Kidman was nominated for an Oscar. We'll see.

I'm going to post this and get working on a nap.

Good morning ladies -

My lungs were doing a little better this morning...but just closed down for some reason, and I can't nebulize for another 2 hours. Yesterday, DH and I went to the pharmacy, and then I got home, ate, showered, changed into jammies and went to bed. I slept really well throughout the night.

Lots to get done today...I've got 4 reports to review/finalize, and I have to find documentation relating to decison making and project execution/leadership to justify my request for a promotion. I feel like saying...just promote me because you know how awesome I am.

DANG IT!!!! I left my meds at home!! I always eat breakfast after I get here, so I bring my a baggie of pills and vitamins with me to take after I eat. I must've left them on the kitchen table! Must relax now....getting stressed out about missing my meds will only serve to further constrict my airways.

Awww, I've got the best boss ever! He just came by (probably because he heard me coughing up a lung or two). He asked how I was doing...and when I couldn't catch my breath to speak an answer...he asked if I should even be here. I said I'd be okay...but I mentioned that I forgot my meds at home. So he suggested that leave in an hour or two once I finish up what I need to here and work from home in the afternoon.

Shad - We're having a hot day today too...temps are supposed to get up to 40! Sorry that the A/C in your building is set to freeze. Sorry that your nose is predicting autumn soon...but if that means spring is nearly here, I'm glad for that. How did your Japlish conversation go?

Laura - Congrats on winning the "most correct guesses" award. Sounds like you had a great long weekend. Did you get to the movies last night? Or just relax?

Mel - I'm glad there's not too much drama or excitement in the building. You deserve a break. I hope you were able to sort out Jen's gov't agency problems. You're having sciatica pain...that's awful. I'm glad the codeine is helping ease the pain a little.

Well, I've got lots to get done before I head home...so I'd better get to it.

Lots of love and hugs,
