Question Whole Wheat Couscous?

Any suggestions/recipes on how to liven this stuff up? Hubby doesn't like it, and I have to admit, it is lacking in flavor. I thought about using chicken broth instead of water. What is the trick to seasoning it. I bought the Trader Joe's brand, and need some ideas, because I now have two boxes of the stuff...

Depends if you want to serve it as a side dish or the traditional north african way.

As a side dish served cold, make a vinaigrette with lemon juice, olive oil, fresh parsley, crushed garlic or chopped green onions, black pepper. Add to the cooked couscous, you can add diced red pepper or green. It makes a pretty good salad, but be careful it packs quite a few calories.

The north african way is a little more elaborate and hot.

sauté some skinless chicken until golden, add one onion, garlic c love, chick peas, zucchini, turnip, carrots, potatoes, bay leaves, salt, pepper, cumin, tomate paste and cover with water and cook until the vegetable are tender. Cook the couscous as suggested on the box and serve it.

I have found that substituting broth for the water gives quinoa a lot more flavor. One of my favorite recipes does it that way and the result is amazing: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Quinoa-...ns/Detail.aspx I've brought this to bbqs and potlucks and there are never leftovers. Be sure to use one can of black beans instead of 2 though - two is way too many!

I like making a saucing lentil dish and serving it over couscous. That way the saucy lentils becomes the flavoring.
