i agree, i have to avoid white carbs.
i did atkins, it was a learning experience but it helped me realize potatoes are not my friends, lol .
i can handle whole grains but if i eat too many i start wanting sweets.
i don't hold to a diet but will start my calorie counting soon.
i will do lower carb, restricting sweets and salt (a big trigger for my weight to go up and I'm addicted to both)
you just have to remember to change your lifestyle, do what makes you feel good.

dark chocolate is the main sweet i can keep in the house and not overeat.
you have to have one special thing you can enjoy, that won't trigger you.

See I count carbs as well but find it's not helpful because I'm eating more calories. I think I'll start cutting out my NIGHTMARE carbs - potatoes and bread, while counting calories again. I did pretty good counting calories but I needed to lower my carb intake. Thanks for all the advice!!!

What is really working for me right now is drastic calorie cutting with intermittent fasting. I keep carbs below 100 gm and source them entirely from vegetables, two servings of low GI fruit and unprocessed whole grains. I eat a lot of veggies. Fiber intake is between 30 and 50 gm. Protein sources are all organic grass-fed, free-range or wild-caught and very lean. I used olive oil, unrefined coconut oil and sunflower oil. I eat dry-roasted seeds. I fast at least once a week, and on days when I do eat, I keep calories below 1580 and only eat between noon and 8 pm.

Before this, I tried a lot of different things but was finding a lot of resistance breaking below 320 lbs. Today I weighed in at 305 lbs. I've lost 15 lbs since April 14.

I also have PCOS and it feels nearly impossible for me to lose weight.... no matter what kind of diet I choose... currently I am calorie counting, cut soda and sweets, replaced whole milk for skim when having cereal in the morning... I go to the gym for an hour and a half to 2 hours doing all cardio (treadmill elliptical and bike) for at LEAST 5 days a week, it just all seems impossible while having PCOS. How do I become successful like all you wonderful ladies?

Michelle, the thing that seems to work consistently for PCOS is reducing carb intake.

For example, you may need to give up your cereal and replace it with veggies and protein instead.

Have you read PCOS diet books?
