YAY! My idea dream is to live up north in San Francisco, and not have a car either. But, with teenagers in the house and living in Southern California where public transportation is virtually non existent...its sort of impossible. If my son were not in the school he was in, it would be completely doable, but since someone needs to pick him up everyday...yeah.
I must confess to cheating a bit today. A girl from work stopped me about 2/3 into my walk this morning and asked me if I wanted a ride. It was right at that point of hitting the wall. I could see the finish line but my body was seriously over-riding my head! So, I caved and got in the car and now I feel horrible about it. I keep saying "At least you got up and walked most of it!"

Good for you for hitting the milestone and committing to starting to exercise. 20 pounds in 6 weeks is an amazing amount of weight to lose!

And I say, give yourself credit for walking 2/3 of the way today and commit to going the whole way tomorrow. People claim that after a while, your body starts to crave exercise...personally never experienced it (it would probably help if I actually got out there), but let me know when it happens to you.

Yes thanks! I am totally giving myself credit HAHA.
Of course sitting here and knowing that it is maybe going to be raining when I leave for work, is NOT motivating me to do the walk. Who knew that 2 miles was such a pain in the a$$. OR that I was so good at making excuses not to do it.
HAHA
I will try to talk myself out of it, and then provided it is not ACTUALLY raining, I will strap on my pretty new Shape Ups and walk the walk. (since I like to talk the talk :P )

Soooo...did you walk today? I hope it wasn't raining where you are, that would make it pretty difficult to walk. Maybe the next purchase would have to be a snazzy new umbrella??

well it is raining again today. YAY. I love the rain. But I also like working out at home more than walking to work, although I probably do more walking than at home. Its ok

I weigh myself obsessively every morning and this week has been an up down. BUT I lost an inch on my hips (where I carry my weight) so YAY I am happy with that.

Congratulations on your loss!! Great work in 6 weeks!!

As far as the exercise goes, maybe see if you have a buddy that could go with you (and talk)...that occupies time, and before you know it you've reached your destination! Or an iPod. I do that, because just walking without talking or listening to music or SOMETHING is boring to me anyway. I usually try and get my hubby to go with me...if I can. It sounds like you're doing great! Keep up the good work!

Yup that is the plan. My iPhone took a dive a few weeks ago, so I have to upgrade, so as soon as I do that i have my tunes back My hunny works an hour and a half away and gets up at 430 am, so to get him to walk with me means getting up earlier, not going to happen LOL. But we are working on getting a schedule together, since he has stalled a little bit himself. For now I am actually learning to not hate my elliptical trainer thing that has been a clothes rack for a while HAHA. I can throw on an episode of Survivor or something and tune out the fact that I am about to fall over dead.

When I used the elliptical at home, I used to keep an audio book handy that I could only listen to if I was exercising. I would get so into the book that I wanted to keep working out, so I did it longer, and then I would be excited to get back to it so that I could hear what happened next. But I agree with an iPod or something like that, it helps with occupation.

And congratulations on working out on the elliptical, I swear those things make for a much more challenging workout.
