It is absolutely gorgeous outside...sunny, warm, and finally into the 60s. I hope its as nice wherever you all are, and that the change in weather stays. I'm VERY ready for spring, mud season and all.
For those of you who are new, the Jaded Ladies are a very friendly group helping support each other as we work towards spiffing up the jewels that we are. Welcome!
Wow! It actually hit 70 today in CT. Five of us went to an Irish pub for lunch. I never went to a bar on St. Paddy's Day before. They sure do it up green and have a great time.
I am fighting my fourth UTI since August. My doctor says if I get just one more he is sending me to still another urologist, this time for some nasty test.
It was real nice weather here today, too, but I didn't get outdoors until after supper.
I packed up all the clothes in my closet that are too big, too short, too long, too ugly or too worn and am donating the good stuff to Goodwill. I also went through all the purses and shoes. I even packed away my winter stuff for storage, which is sure to bring freezing temps. I feel liberated!! And in need of new stuff!
Not sure what time W is on TV tonight, but I want to see what he has to say - as though we don't already know. Younger DD is so worried about war, and although I have tried to calm her fears, I have to admit that I am worried, too. She is 16 and has a built in bullsh&t detector, so I can't smooth it all away like I could when she was 8.
I have a friend doing WW with me now, which will make it easier to do. She is all excited about the points and recipes, and her enthusiasm is contageous.
Kat - The vigil you attended sounds so wonderful! We haven't had anything like that around here, or I would go.
Carree- I guess you are past the point of cranberry juice, huh? Those UTIs can be so persistant! Back in my single days, I used to go to a local bar and they served green beer on St. Pat's day. The first one was hard for me to get down, but the next few were easier.
I have a few more minutes to post while I am waiting on the umpteen load of laundry to dry. I can't believe I had so much for this trip. Usually I have a couple loads this time it was 5!
We had a great time. Got to see my sister, my son, and several different groups of good friends. They had not seen me since Thanksgiving so they were pretty surprised at my weight loss, which was nice.
Hope everyone is doing well.
It is warm here also and looks like maybe spring is gonna stick this time. Sure hope so. I want to get our garage cleaned out and my deck and flower beds cleaned up for summer and get my patio furniture up.
DONNA, glad that you had a nice visit with family and friends. Do you take lots of photos. I don't go anywhere without my camera, I take a ton of photos when I visit. I imagine folks may think I'm a pest!
I know it was a great feeling to have them notice the weight loss. You have done so well.
KAT, the peace vigil sounds wonderful. We have had some here, but they have had a low turnout. I haven't been to them, but they are not well publicized. There was a big pro Bush rally here held by one of the country radio stations, they destroyed stuff from the Dixie Chicks.
CARREE, sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. Those UTI's can be really nasty, hope your feeling better soon.
JANA, I'm glad that all my grandchildren are too young to be worried at this point. My grandson is almost 10, I worry about what the future will hold for him. In the last gulf war, my younger daughter was his age, it's scary to think that the next time after this, he might have to go.
Well, the weather has been wonderful. We have been in the 70's with lots of sunshine. Maurice and I spent the weekend raking and mowing the yard and cleaning up the cars. JBoy, I have aches in places that haven't felt pain in years.
OH, I lost another 1.2 lbs. for a total of 8 in three weeks. Hopefully I'm on my way!!!
Gotta go, will check in later,
Ruth

Ruth - I saw in my local newspaper about the anti-Dixie Chicks rally that was held in your town, and I thought of you. Way to go on the weight loss. You are just doing super!
Donna - It had to be such a great feeling hearing everyone comment on your weight loss. I bet they were are so proud of you.
My allergies are acting up today since the windows are wide open, but it is worth it to get the fresh air. I hung out the sheets to dry outside - won't they smell sooo good? The fabric softener companies can try all they want, but so far they haven't been able to bottle that fresh air scent.
Better run and get some things done. My son is bringing lunch and visiting with me in a little while. Be good!!
Just bopping in and bringing this up before it falls off the end of the page. Its a cold, bone-chilling rain all day today, and continuing tonight--I don't mind it though, because its not snow, its not -30F, AND its melting the snow we have. Yaaay for spring, which officially starts in 15 minutes.
Hey everyone! I am at least 90 % back to normal thank goodness! It has been a rough two weeks. My food has taken a beating with the you know whats, then the trip and lastly the food poisoning. Sheesh! I did stay op so far today and got in my first walk for about a week and a half. It wasn't too tough. I just needed to be back to my ole self.
Jack is downstairs watching FOX news so I hope he lets me know when he wants supper. He sprained his ankle on the trip and has been having trouble with it. We are basically just old folks with lots of problems!!!
I did have a nice thing happen on Tue. DH and I went down to the casinos and I took my fanny pack. (Best way to keep from getting robbed or pickpocketed) Anyway, we had not been down there since before Christmas. I didn't put it on until I got out of the car and YE GADS it was hugely too big! Jack measured it and said it was about 5 inches too big in the waist. YAHOO now if my butt would start cooperating a little more! On the trip, my daughter saw me undressed in the hotel and said, "Mom, your legs look awful. You sure can tell you have lost weight in them. They were all full and round before and are all dimply and saggy now." I could have kissed her!
Well, I am hungry so am going to get the dh up to help with dinner.
Kat - still raining where you are? We had the rain, and lots of sunshine followed, with Spring temps. Yay!
Donna - Glad things are getting back to normal for you. Woo Hoo on the fanny pack belt being too
big. Don't you just love when that happens?
Hi to the absent others....
Two good things happened to me today. First, I got a new internet service that actually lets me be online for more than 10 minutes without being booted off. Yay for that!! But best of all, I sent off the check for the room reservation at Disney World for a vacation in May. The plane tickets are a done deal, too. I can hardly wait! It's been 4 years since I was there last, and am chomping at the bit.
Donna, did you have food poisoning, or was it that nasty virus that has been going around. I sure do hope you feel better. My husband started a new job last week on Monday, he was out sick with stomach virus Tues - Thurs. It was pretty rough, I'm thankful I didn't get it. I slept on the couch for a five nights.
Aren't children wonderful, so honest! I made my grandson clean his room last week, he looks at me and says "Actually the whole house needs cleaning!!" Dang, truth hurts sometimes, so anyway spent my weekend straightening up around the house.
JANA, how exciting, Disney World. I would love to go to Disney World or DisneyLand one day. I guess it will be a year before Maurice and I can go anywhere. He went back to work for the company he had worked at for 14 years. They offered him better pay, I wish they would have given him some vacation time back. He use to have four weeks vacation. But he didn't ask, and they didn't offer. Maybe we can go to Hot Springs, Arkansas on a 3 day weekend soon.
How are the twins?
CARREE, where are you. I think you have been AWOL longer than me this time.
KAT, how's the weather now? We are warm and sunny here in the deep south. Now I feel human again!!
Well, I've some studying to do, so I better run.
Talk to you later
Ruth
BTW, I forgot to tell you girls, I've lost another 3.8 lbs for a total of 11.8 in four weeks.
Way to go Ruth! I wish I could say that I was down some, but after 2 birthdays in short order, I've relapsed a bit. *sigh*
Oh well, the weather is much nicer, so I'm back to taking nice long walks outside, soaking in the sun.
I hope you are feeling better, Donna. My gallbladder has been acting up lately, so I suspect its time to pay attention to that and avoid trigger foods--they aren't good for me anyhow!
Kat - what am I? chopped liver? Anyway, I have been walking, too, along with dd. Just doing a mile at a time to start, and hope to increase it as time goes by. Are you and Miko still going to the gym at all?
Ruth - your dgs sounds like a real cutie. Smart, too. Glad Maurice got back on with that company. It has to be a relief to you. Hope you get to do the 3 days at Hot Springs sometime this summer. The twins are fine - thank you for asking. They are pulling up to everything now, and are very busy! 3.8 pounds more!!! You go girl!!!
Donna and Carree and Essey- where are you?
We had a real scare last night. Son-in-law called around 9 and said dd was losing blood vaginally, so he rushed her to the ER while we sat with the twins. Turns out, her uterus was closed and they couldn't seem to tell where the blood came from. I was so relieved that she didn't lose the baby!
The food and exercise and water are all doing fine! Knowing that the vacation is coming up is a real incentive to stay OP.
If you ARE chopped liver, it would be pate foie de gras because you are such a classy woman.
Miko has been flaking off on the gym, but I am still going...not quite as often as I would like, but I am still working out. For $350, I had better be! I really need to take a yoga class. I'm really quite stiff on my left side, and my balance on the left foot is really bad as of late. I can't sit cross legged anymore, and worst of all, its REALLY hard to reach to do a good wiping job on the potty. *shuddering* Of course, I persist until I get the job done well, but I want my flexibility back and yoga seems a good way to get it. Do any of you ever have problems with reach? *sigh* Its a disgusting idea, but I'm hoping I'm not the only one having to invest extra effort.
Oh, I'm glad the baby is still staying put. She should have an ultrasound to check the location of the placenta... a low lying placenta (placenta previa, or a partial previa) can cause bleeding like that, and will need to be monitored as the pregnancy progresses. If its just low lying, sometimes it will move out of the way as the uterus enlarges, but if its a previa or partial previa, she might need a C-Section to prevent excessive bleeding later on or when she goes into labour.
Your thread sounds very encouraging. Hope you don't mind if I drop in.... I could always use a dash of support or a sprinkling of encouragement.
I just started back at W.Watchers. I gained some of my weight back and, ta-da, need to lose it... again! This time for good.
I once told somebody I wouldn't be a yo-yo again, I was cutting the string and wouldn't gain back the weight. Well, I musn't have cut off enough of the string, because I gained about 25 of the 60 lbs I originally lost. This time I think I'll just throw away the yo-yo! ha!
