Hi..I've been gone for a while, it seems I've taken the summer off of being mindful of my eating and of tracking my intake. The good news is: The big changes I made in diet and lifestyle stayed with me even if I wasn't actively trying to lose weight. My portions are still smaller, I stay away from fast food, I think before I mindlessly stuff my face. I haven't gained any and actually am about 3 lbs down from where I was early June. I guess this was a mini maintenance phase. I just strayed away from here, got busy, etc. Thankfully I didn't stray from the good habits I built from my first 6 months here.
My boyfriend went to the doctor last week and for the first time his health has been effected by his weight. He has been 50-100lbs overweight for the past 10 years. He had always gotten good reports on Labs done at physicals. His doctor told him his health was declining and he needs to lose a minimum of 75 lbs. He had always been supportive of my weight loss but didn't feel like it applied to him. Now he is interested in cooking light, portion control, increasing daily activity. The warning about diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood sugars have really scared him. He wants to try to lose 30 lbs in the next few months and then have a re-check of his numbers at the Dr. after 90 days. I am so excited to have a partner in this journey!! It will sure be a lot easier to get healthy without having my guy bringing the chips, sugary soda and Oreo's.
As he's shown interest in getting healthy it has renewed my commitment to make this the year that I get healthy too. (We don't call it a Diet at our house!) I'm down 32 lbs from December 26, 2009 and motivated to get the scale moving downward again.
I just wanted to say HI. Thanks
