So I thought I might try to start up a thread similar to the Whatcha Readin' one, but for movies and TV, if anyone is interested. Although of course it's not healthy to sit around and watch TV all day, it's nice to have SOME down time. Since movies are usually something that might be watched as a family, it might be a good idea to include ratings and whether there is anything obviously objectionable.
I just recently got Netflix and I love it. So far, I've watched the original British version of Death at a Funeral and The Lovely Bones.
Death at a Funeral was absolutely hilarious. I have a friend who HATES what he terms as "British Humor", and even he enjoyed it. It's rated R... It's pretty dark humor and there's some drug content, as well as a naked man (from the back), so it's really not for kids, but most grownups should enjoy it.
The Lovely Bones was interesting. As someone who has read the book, I thought it was slightly different in that it focuses more on Susie in the afterlife than the events in her family like the book does. It had a very weird, unsettling feel to it. All in all, though, I would recommend it. It's rated PG-13, and there are some plot elements that are pretty mature, but nothing too graphic.
I just finished up watching The entire Series of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Watching TV shows together makes for good "cuddle" time when the boyfriend and I are so far apart. We watch them at the computer and sync up so that we can talk while we're watching them. The last week we've been watching Mystery Science Theater 3000. I think we're watching the Devil Doll episode tonight. We're gearing up to watch the complete series of Angel next. Then perhaps Animaniacs or Pinky & the Brain. Yes we're kids at heart.
Oh, my goodness! I LOVE Anamaniacs and Pinky and the Brain. I guess my boyfriend and I are kids at heart too, because we watch cartoons all the time... haha. We also spend our weekend nights watching the History Channel. I think that probably makes us old people in our 20's.
Oh, I forgot to mention I just started watching Pretty Little Liars, and as much as I didn't want to like it, I do! I kind of want to start reading the books now.
Losing It

Top Chef
The Next Food Network Star

My Life on the D List with Kathy Griffin
Hot in Cleveland
Hmm, I think a couple others but don't recall at the moment
And I watch Charmed, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel online.
Is anyone else excited about Huge on ABC Family? I can't wait to watch it next Monday. Nikki Blonsky is such a talented actress. Loved her in Hairspray. I'm also excited about the subject matter because as much as I think that leading a healthy lifestyle is a good thing, it's great to see strong female characters who love their bodies and don't let others determine their body image.
i just watched one from a few years ago- the 4400. I really liked it, until the last season which i felt kinda jumped the shark a bit. and it was canceled prematurely so i'm disappointed i don't get to see how it ended. all that i still really liked it.
we also just started watching Justified and i am in love!!!
reruns of Castle Leverage Work of Art (I think I'm the only one! And I need to ask if anyone else thinks Miles and Nicole are related? They look JUST alike!) Top Chef Next Design Star (but not the parts where the losers have to do their presentations, it embarrasses me!)
the dance part of Dance Your *** Off
reruns of Community Deadliest Catch
I'm on a total Criminal Minds kick at the moment, HMV had the box sets for £23 for an entire series so series 1 to 3 is now mine. I think I'm falling in love with Doctor Reid, is this a bad thing?
Also because I am a huge massive Stargate geek I've started rewatching series 1 of SG1. Forgot how amazing it is, even if it seems a little dated. I should dig out the original movie as well, that's a gem that I haven't seen for a LONNNNG time.
