Default 7 Weight Loss Mistakes Healthy Women Make

I thought this was a great article from Prevention Magazine. Especially for those of us who think we are doing everything right and not seeing results.

The seven mistakes are related to the below points. Read the article for more info!

# 1. If you count calories
# 2. If you're consistently active
# 3. If you choose nutritious foods
# 4. If you order the "healthiest" menu item
# 5. If you satisfy cravings with "diet" treats
# 6. If you’re a crunches queen
# 7. If you eat small snacks to quell cravings

Thanks for sharing.. its very interesting.

BUT it makes me stress out even more. Losing weight is already hard, but then that article makes me second guess myself.

Now I don't know if I am eating enough. They suggest to have a 500 calorie deficit... eat 200 less and lose 300 through exercise. That would change a lot for me.

Its just so much to take in.

I think some of these rules are misleading.

For example, rule 6 says crunches won't help you out, you should do cardio, but if you have a regular weight lifting routine, you will build muscle mass, making yourself more efficient at burning calories. So, it implies that you should do only cardio when what they mean to say is that balance in your workout (cardio AND weights) is important.

But it's good to be reminded that one needs to be vigilant and keep portions in check.

Good article, thanks for sharing. I like the part about portion control. It's so easy to pile your plate with stuff when it's not unhealthy but it isn't necessarily the right thing to do either.

Shortandfluffy, don't stress too much! There is a lot of advice out there. I'm not sure what you are doing, but it looks like you are getting results!

RunnerChemist, the point was that crunches in and of themselves are not going to get you a flat stomach contrary to what some believe. Even if you have very strong ab muscles they won't be seen unless you have a low body fat percentage.

Thank you! I know I stress too much and I try not to... I get really obsessive about it which drives me DH crazy. Trying to find the right balance, without too much of one thing or the other...

I have been doing calorie counting.. did LA in the past, but it was too restrictive for me this time around.

Starting to get the hang of things though!

You will figure it out! There isn't one right way for EVERYONE, but there is a right way for YOU. The great thing is that you are the foremost expert of "you" followed by those really close to you. As long as you don't give up I have faith you will make a lasting change!
