My biological mother is 5'1''(at 16) and was around 95-100 lbs when she got pregnant with me, my dad was 5'8'' and around 170.. now i think my bio mom is around 5'4'' and around 140 and my dad is around 280... All the women on my mos side are pretty thin but the women on my dads side are almost all overweight...i know who's genes i got ,... besides 1 aunt and my younger sister who is also fairly heavy(around 180 at 4'11'' i am the 3rd smallest
Everyone on my father's side of the family are built like linebackers, men and women. One of my aunts has to be 300-400lbs and my two uncles are upwards of 400lbs. You know Haggard from Harry Potter......? Thats what one of my uncles looks like, talllll and heavy. That side of the family is French Canadian/Native Canadian, so big boned and rugged, lol. My mother's side however, all athlete's, tall, thin, and in great shape. My sister and I look more like my dad's side so when we go to family parties on my mom's side, we just look like a couple of sore thumbs. Ugh, darn genetics. Im a thick peasant stock type of girl, broad shoulders and big bones!
My mom has alwayas been overweight or obese in her life, and she actually got me believing I was "big boned".. sometimes I hate her for it, even tho it's not completely her fault, she actually believes that. She also believes that losing *her own* extra weight is "pointless" because she's "so tall" and she has "her father's giant torso" and she can "never be skinny or thin"... I can tell you it's all BS. I have a big torso/ribcage and I am 6', taller than her, but lose the extra fat, you do not look gigantic anymore!! My brother has always been very active so he ate constantly but was never ever fat. My dad tends to put on a big belly but only that, and he is very sporty and active so he doesn't suffer from it. I gain weight very easily, I'm not genetically blessed, but who cares I can lose weight if I work so
*Sigh*. All of the males in my family are THIN. My brothers are about 6 feet and maybe 130 (ages 16, 16, and 21), and my dad is 6'1 and 170 pounds. So not fair. All of my uncles and male cousins are skinny. Oh, but almost every female related to me is obese. My mom was 5'5 200 pounds when she was 18 and about 350 pounds by the time she was 30. All of her sisters are obese and all of my dad's sisters are obese.
All the women in my family are except my mom and her siblings. She and her sister are in the 200-250 range (at about 5'8") and my uncle is not obese but a huge guy. Like 6'4" probably 300. All of my cousins are very thin, though, and my dad's side is skinny!

my mom was petite and average sized (her highest was a size 12 before her death last year) but she had health issues, her family was varied tall and slender or petite and average my dad is overweight his side of the family is large i was one of the smaller ones up until i had kids.
my brothers are average they're leaning toward the family gut tho
My mom's side of the family (as far as I know) is mostly short and heavy. I'm built more like my dad, which is scary, because there are women (I've seen pictures, but never met) that weigh 500+ pounds. And not just 1 person, but most people on that side are big. I don't know of anyone in my biological family that has a healthy weight. (a few who have married in are normal)
My mum is on the left, obviously I'm the one in the cap and gown...Dad is behind us in the blue and white, but that was after he lost a lot of weight from chemo. He was never a really BIG guy but he was definitely not a twig or anything. Lady in the wheelchair is his mom, my grandma (turning 94 this year). Tall guy in the back is my dad's brother, lady in pink is dad's sister. The two on the right being their spouses to whom I am not genetically related.
I always knew my mum was big, but apparently she used to be smaller. I never thought of my dad as fat when I was young so I don't really know...it could've just been that I thought he was superman. I seem to recall people saying he was a large boy when he was young though. My sister and I could be twins even though she is 6 years older. We are the same height and the same weight.
As for my extended family I feel like they're all pretty...normal. Not skinny but not anything I'd call fat, either.
My entire family is overweight (with the exception of one uncle and one cousin). My mother is in the mid 140s at 5'1 and is the smallest. My mom has three brothers and three sisters. I know the women's weights range from 200 to 300. I'm not sure of the men's weights but two of the three are at least overweight. My dad's about 220 and 6ft. I'm not sure of his brother's weight but it might be borderline normal/overweight. His sister is really tall and overweight. All four of us children range from overweight to obese and at this point in time I'm the thin one. Three out of four of my grandparents are/were overweight as well with only my dad's father being thin. I think it's safe to say that genetics plays some role in our weight gain. I noticed that ALL the women gained their weight right after puberty.
My family's interesting because on both sides, it varies person to person! My mom is a little bit bigger than average with a large frame, yet her sister is tiny and fragile. My dad's pretty average too, but some of his siblings are obese and some are small as well. The thing everyone has in common though is that we all gain weight mostly in our stomachs, so I guess I got that gene... also, most of the women are "sturdy" and regardless of weight, we have bone structures like line-backers! BUT on both sides of the family there is a history of diabetes, heart disease AND cancer so even though no one is morbidly obese, they are definitely not in optimum health!
Side note: I had one of those "ah-ha" moments and decided to lose weight when I realized I was the heaviest one in my immediate family. I was even heavier than my dad! I didn't like that my mom and I could share clothes and that some of her pants were a bit tight on me, especially since she is a lot taller than I am. But I'm happy to say that I have reclaimed my place as skinniest in the family, and I won't let that change!

Nope I'm the fat one... I've been fat since I was a kid...
My dads family is all thin and the only overweight one is a cousin of mine who only gained weight due to a medication he was put on
My moms family is also full of thin people...none of my cousins are overweight and my aunts however only packed on few pounds once they were in their forties
My sister is five feet tall and weighs 105 pounds...my parents are both a little overweight but this is a recent thing
It's kind of weird with my family.... my paternal grandmother was always a size 6 (or an 8) until the day she died. My maternal grandmother was also thin, and my mom was always thin (except for a few years and she's since lost the weight), my brother is a wire, my sister has always been thin (although she's gained some college lbs, nothing significant), my paternal aunt and my maternal aunt are both thin. Basically the only people in my family that are overweight are me, my dad, and my paternal uncle. And my dad isn't that overweight anymore anyways.
So the genetics are fine, I just gained weight due to depression, college, and hypothryoidism. It sucks. But I was always a chubby kid.
Much of my family is overweight. Several who are not are only thinner because they work hard at it and have been heavier at times. My husbands immediate family is all thin and sometimes I feel weird around them. Not that I think they are judging me because I know they are NOT and never would (well, his BIL probably does but whatever)...I'm just very aware that I am the fat one.

in my family history everyone was and is pretty healthy, but my mom has some extra weight on her from having 5 kids but before she had us she was thin and healthy and my dad is slim and healthy
