Default What's the skinny on salad?

I know my doc says I have to wait till I am 8 weeks out from surgery to have raw veggies and lettuce.. But once I can have these things how hard on your system is a salad?

Seriously craving a romaine with some chicken and avacado.

and FYI you do not want White meat chicken
Even now it can get stuck for me

You know I haven't had a problem with white meat. I guess I should add a yet to that. But I have had some a few times and it went down fine.

I am sad the salad will hurt.

I haven't had a problem with salad or raw veggies. I eat hummus and raw veggies a lot.

No problems with salad, raw veggies or chicken. Beef sometimes makes my belly hurt. Pork, like any kind of sausage or chops, yik.

sindurella - you're just gonna have to try it and see what happens to you. when i started back on veggies, things like cucumber, tomatoes, zucchini worked very well. other veggies had to be cooked to the OTHER side of crunchy [not my favorite]. salad wasn't easy at first, but eventually, it worked out. after about, oh, 6 months, one of my FAVORITE lunches was some deli chicken, shredded carrot, chopped cuke, chopped tomato all rolled up in a nice big romaine leaf. with a little blue cheese.

spinach is tough for me - baby leaves work better, and if they're mixed into a regular salad, i'm usually OK. but cooked spinach is usually a challenge for some reason.

just keep trying different things. if something causes problems, try it again in a week or so - it's a daily adventure!

at first, nothing raw would sit well but over time I could eat raw veggies if i chewed the living daylights out of them.

Go slow, test the waters. Follow your dr. directions to the letter, it is the key!
