Syn Glad you'r home, hope you are back to normal soon!!!

Lucky that is sooo funny. Would you believe that on my raido station this morning someone was talking about a cow in the road. Said it made them late to work, but the cow didn't care. I bet your bull didn't care either

Hello to everyone else, got to get busy here.

Talking Oh, the joys of country life!

Now, that's something you just don't see in my neck of the woods!

Guess what my sister just gave me? Dr Phil on tape! She already listened, loved it and told me it's better than the book. Okay, I'll give it a shot...now where is that cassette player? fumble fumble....

Hi Girls!
Wow, it's quiet around here. I hope all are well!!! I just saw a commercial for the new Harry Potter movie! Can't wait to see it! Well, it's just me and the dogs tonight. DH went to NYC this morning without a hotel reservation, but they found one for him so he is staying overnight and the hotel is drycleaning his suit overnight. Being a guy can be so easy --- a women could never to that without going out and buying makeup and junk.

Grits/Donna - I saw you posted your bio. Jump on in here and chat - the water is fine and we don't bite (too hard) Looking forward to getting to know you! Welcome!

I'm watching American Idol. Just not sure .... I think I like Fantasia now.

Have a great night.
Hugs.

Cool

Lucky! Talk about needing a cup of coffee and a cig on the way to work.

I'm still on my cleaning streak. I finished up the two spare rooms. They look marvelous! I've done all this work cleaning and I'll probably have to shut the doors to keep the GS from getting into stuff. I will admit that I have hidden stuff in the closets but do feel like its crap containment to be addressed next week. I even changed the filter on the furnace tonight.

I have a couple of recipes that I want to post. Last night, we tried WW Bean tostadas with avocado and corn salsa. I was leary about DH being satisfied with no meat but he ate two and was happy. He said he'd do them again. The only thing we'd do different is not to try to bake corn tortillas to make the tostado shell (that's what he was burning last night). A very easy, refreshing summertime meal.

Tonight, he tried pasta with tomatoes and fresh herbs. It was a recipe he saw in People magazine. We added sauteed chicken. Again, very easy and very satisfying because of the flavor of fresh herbs and the olive oil.

Not much exercise today. I did do pilates for the back this morning. I wish I could drag my butt up early enough to get in a hour of pilates each morning. I passed on the cardio tonight since I was doing all the reorganizing and cleaning for more than an hour.

No dog walking tonight because its been stormy all day and the humidity is very oppressive. Not a lick of wind either. He just doesn't do well. Pants like a frickin' racehorse at the foot of the bed.

Did anyone see Dr Phil's weight loss show yesterday? I have mixed emotions about it. There where some people who have incredible success with the program. I had a hard time with him coming down on participants for not losing enough. Yes, they had made a commitment to participate and were given incredible opportunities and some didn't really stick to their commitment. Which really hit home with me. On one hand, he was saying "You've lost 68 pounds but you COULD have lost 144". He told four of them that even though they've lost 60+ each that they just haven't done enough and he was giving them another chance. I found that incredibly arrogant. But then again, he was cutting no slack on anyone who had made a commitment and sabotaged themselves by not staying committed. I might have told him where to stick it if he had talked to me like that. Which made me wonder if I've been copping out on my commitment by setting my goals so low for the year. Just gives myself an out to screw around with my plans. Wow, that could get really deep.

Barb - I agree about American Idol. Diana just wasn't as good tonight and Fantasia kicked butt. Simon was really bitter towards Jasmine. Not her fault that people voted for her. Did you say DH is gone until Friday? Is this your Vegas weekend? You'll be ready for the trip to get some time together. I have a dumb question. How come they don't move your DH to NYC to work if he has to go so much?

Kat - Look at your go with the exercise! When will we see you in the audience of Dr. P?

Syn - I'm so glad to hear that you're back home and slowly getting back on your feet. Take care of yourself!

Pat - Good to see you're still here and lurking!

Hello to eveyone! I'm off to the book thread to try to recreate this mornings post.

Hi Again -
Just taking a quick peek before hopping into bed. It's a stormy night here so I guess I'll have three dogs in bed with me --- one is scared to death of the storms and won't go in her room if it's thundering --- then that gets the others mad, so they will all end up with me - at least there is extra room tonight!

Terri - This weekend is Jeff's dad visiting - along with his girlfriend who we have never met. We leave for vacation a week from Friday! So much to do!!! Good question about NYC --- for starters, it would take a LOT of $$$ to move us there. His co. is headquarted in NYC and that is where his boss works. All of the Mutual Fund administration is headquarted out of Wilmington, DE (Many companies do this for Delaware's tax breaks). So, DH heads up the DE office but is needed in NYC for a lot of things. That's the scoop. Luckily we are about 15 minutes from the Amtrak station and he takes the high speed train in --- about an hour and a half to get there --- about what my drive takes on many days! Go figure!

So, as I said we will have my father-in-law and his Girlfriend in town this weekend --- no clue what we will do. We've never met the GF and don't really know what to expect. They are staying in a hotel. Works for me because my spare room will be a mess packing for the trip. I have suggested several things to do, but none of them seem to be just the "right" thing. So I think we will be sitting around staring at each other a lot this weekend. We'll see. Could be interesting.

Did I fill you in on the latest trip plans?? I am so excited. I have been talking to my girlfriend in LA - we are going there first for 2 nights. She is going to show us the sites. We have rented a convertible and plan on cruising around town - getting a map of the stars homes, seeing Hollywood, Venice Beach, etc. Should be great - I have know her since 8th grade so it's always fun to talk about the old times.

Then in Vegas we've booked tickets to see The Blue Man Group - I've heard it's a great show. We got 2nd row tickets - "Poncho Zone" - I guess the equivalent of "Splash Zone" at Sea World. For our anniversary we have planned a vow renewal ceremony at the Little White Chapel. A Limo will pick us up, take up to the chapel, we are doing a traditional ceremony, taking pics and then the limo will take us to the NY, NY casino where we have reservations for dinner at an Italian restaurant followed by a show - Zumanity - a new Cirque de Soleil show. Sound like fun??? We are also planning on seeing Wayne Newton (such a Vegas thing) and maybe a magic show. We are not booking anything else - just playing it by ear when we get there. I am planning on a lot of relaxing by the pool and long bubble baths. Along with the gambling of course. DH will be at the tables while I lounge around.

Well, that was a story and a half. Sorry to drone on and on. I have stayed much longer than intended. Gotta get some shut eye. Catch ya'll tomorrow.

Luv,
Barb

Hi all! Not much time, running, running, running.....again. Need sleep so I can function again in the morning.

I do have to say that tuning in this evening was well worth the effort. My Gosh, but you girls are funny!

Lucky: Do you carry along your digital camera to work? You could post pics of your "traffic jam"! Then we'd all know what it's like to live in the country. #1 Son thought the story was hysterical!

Terri: "Crap containment". Now there's a term I haven't heard, but I love it! Mind if I snitch that one?

BarbPA: "Jeff's dad visiting - along with his girlfriend". Until I read a little further down I thought "geez, Barb's progressive. Doesn't mind visiting with Jeff's dad and girlfriend all in the same weekend." Quite a threesome you'll be entertaining.

Hi to everyone else. I really do love you all, just no time lately. Hopefully next week will bring me some free time. Later...........

Just peeking in for a second. I am so busy I did not even get to watch American Idol tonight. My family knows I am addicted to that show... and I won't answer the phone except in commercials. LOL
For me to miss it... well .. it is UNHEARD OF !!!!!!
But if my procrastination is not enough... my daughter is equally as bad.
We do NOT make a good pair to get things done. LOL
We were up until 3 am last night... and if I don't get off of here NOW .. I will be up that late tonight too.
The countdown is REALLY HERE.... It is Wed and the rehersal is Thursday.
My granddaughters dance recital Friday and the wedding Saturday.
I sure hope it turns out okay. Well .. that is only half true. I know it will turn out okay... I hope it turns out GREAT.

Good Morning!

I just got back from my weekly acupuncture appt. It was such a relaxing session today - he was playing nature music and the sound of the waves crashing reminded me of being on a cruise. I kept dozing off and I could actually hear myself snoring. It was a weird feeling.

Thin --- Hmmmmm I guess I didn't word that quite right!

2Cute --- Wedding crunch time!!! I know everything will be wonderful. Just make sure you remember to ENJOY it!!!

Terri --- You are inspriring me to go on my own cleaning/organizing mission. My closets and spare bedrooms need it desperately!!! The problem I have it that then most of the junk ends up in the basement! I've gotta start tossing and selling. I too enjoyed the "crap containment" phrase!

Alrighty - Time for some work. Catch ya later!

Good morning all!

I've been her lurking the last few days but haven't had any time to post I've been so busy!

Food and exercise have been good. Over the weekend I planted my garden - what a job. Then, monday when I got up - man oh man was my butt SORE!!! All that squatting up and down really did a number on the ole muscles . My goal was to lose 10 lbs by Memorial Day and I've lost about 14 lbs! I'm pretty excited about that. I've been working on my own modified version of South Beach. I'm not as strict as it says to be and it's still working.

My daughter, my mom and myself are going camping for Memorial weekend. So, I'm trying to get things ready. I'm leaving my son at home with my hubby (neither one of them are good campers ). So, I've been cooking getting meals in the freezer so they don't eat crap the whole time I'm gone. If it were up to DH they'd live on frozen pizza and pizza rolls . I'm really looking forward to going. Last Labor Day weekend we tried to take my son (at that time he was 14 months) - BAD IDEA! So, now I get Memorial weekend to go camping and DH gets Labor Day weekend to go to the cabin with his Dad - without a toddler .

I really got behind this weekend, so there won't be any individual replys. Congrats to all who have been losing and doing good with food/exercise. Good luck with all the plans this weekend and have a WONDERFULday!

Barb.g -- We are staying at Sam's Town for 3 nights and Mandalay Bay for 3 nights. We like to split our time between off/on the strip --- we do most of our gambling off the strip because the table limits are lower and you can find single/double deck blackjack. However, we also like the excitement and glamour of the hotels on the strip - thus spliting our time. Make sense?
