Default Weight watchers, am I doing this right?

My cousin started weight watchers and gave me a little book and point calculator. I'm so excited to start my own little weight watchers.. I add up everything. ( I'm 5'4 and 300 pounds, 25 years old ) and I get around 30 points... but, It feels like a struggle to eat that manly points! I feel like I'd be eating more then I did before! Plus fruits and veggies are free apparently and for lunch I normally have a salad.

Am I doing this right?

Yes sweetie you are
. Are you sure you only get 30 points?, make sure that is correct.
Try to get as close as possible to your daily alotted points becasue sometimes not eating enough can cause you to gain weight. You will get use to it and be surprised at all the choices you have. I love it and am doing pretty good with it. Stick to it and you will do just fine. If you have any questions you can always PM me.

Hugs love and blessings,
making every moment count,

I agree, are you sure you only get 30 points? I would think it would be much more than that if you are doing the new Points Plus program with the little blue calculator. If you are doing the old program with a slide rule type "calculator" then fruits and veggies are not 0 points. It is a good program and I love it too. Good luck!!

When I was on the Points program (no free fruit) at 273lbs I got 35 points. On the PointsPlus program at 245lbs I got 41 points per day. I would double check your numbers on that. Also, be careful of the free fruit. I found that I wasn't successful with the PointsPlus program because I can EASILY eat 500 calories worth of fruit every day.

Good luck, WW is a fantastic plan!

Sara,
I hope you got my message with the points calculated for you and your mom. The calculation was done for the New Points Plus Program and you both get the extra 49 points each week, but know you cannot carry them over from week to week. They start over with each new week. I use a few of them each day if needed or if I am going to special celabration.

Hope you and your mom do great with this. Oh yeah, the free fruits, I try to eat my fruits early in the day so I can burn up the carbs in them. I think too much of anything is not good so be careful with them. Great program though.

Wishing you the best.

Thank you all so much! Yeah I got it figured out now.. I've been sitting around all morning writting down points to what we eat on a little notepad for the fridge. We had these mini snickers ice cream bars we thought were good because they were only 90 calories. I did the points for them and 1 = 10 points! I was in shock! I know I wont be buying these AGAIN!

I don't think you're doing your math right. Do you have a PointsPlus calculator or access to the WW etools? There's no way that 90 calories worth of anything is 10 points, even on the new (more carb-unfriendly) plan. At the MOST it's 4 points, but I'm betting it's 3.
