Unhappy SnaCK WoeS

I am getting really sick of Cucumbers, Carrots, Peas, Cottage Cheese, and Yogurt does anyone have any ideas on how to keep snacks and dieting in general from not becoming boring and repetitive?
Unfortunately I am a "grazer" I love snacking but need to figure out a way to keep it healthy. I know there are tons of 100 calorie packs now available but they are small. Im just starting out so the first step for me is eating healthy foods then I will start on portion size. I find if I try to do everything at once I get overwhelmed and just give up. So I really need snacks that I can eat a good quantity of that wont ruin the entire day. That is why I started with cucumbers and sugar snap peas.

Do you like cherry tomatoes? I eat those w/ garlic salt. Bell peppers w/ a little hummus? I also snack on kiwis, mandarins, and ruby red grapefruit. Babybel lite cheese and Laughing Cow cheese are good snacks, too.

If you are a grazer try air popped corn. You get quite a bit for the calories and it fills you up. You can spray a little non-stick spray and add seasonings or brewer's yeast to spice it up.

I'd recommend the air popped popcorn too. I'm sick of the veggies too and bought a popper this week at Walmart - fairly inexpensive. 1c. of air popped popcorn is only 31 calories. I divide them up in baggies and munch on them during the day.

I love cheese - so cheese sticks, laughing cow cheese spread (with crackers), babybels, almonds (I like all almonds, but I really like the flavored kind, esp the cinnamon and brown sugar, its the same amount in calories as the plain), fruit!!!, 100 calorie raspberry/blackberry/banana muffins I made last month...

I also like to snack on kids cereal - a serving is around 130 calories

They dont have to be portable. I tend to snack a lot more at home.

I love instant oatmeal for an easy snack, or apple sauce, crackers with laughing cow, morning star corn dogs... those are all the favorites I can think of at the moment.

Colleen,
Morning Star corn dogs for a snack. I never thought of them as snacks but that is brilliant! I used to have the 100 calorie snacks but have been moving to more substanial snacks and find I eat fewer calories that way. Morning Star corn dogs, 150 calories, is becoming one of my new snacks.

Thanks!

Well today I decided to go grocery shopping without a list and to try NEW things than what I usually get and plan for my days. I kind of just wing it and then try to plan around the new foods that I got.

I don't know if you are calorie counting or on a low carb or what, but I love to have a whole wheat english muffin (Orowheat) with some sf jam or a little honey and I Can't Believe It's Not Butter spray. I also eat a lot of berries like blackberries with lower fat cheese, or strawberries and a little skim ricotta and vanilla and splenda. I throw that on a few Wasa crackers. I love to have a bowl of Kashi cereal, of course, the lower caloric ones. Asparagus is a nice switch up too. It's a great way to get fats in so I will have a serving of nuts every couple or days or stir fry some vegis in canola oil. Peppers are great dipped in a little sour cream with Hidden Valley Ranch Dip mix. You really have to just watch your serving sizes is all. Baked Doritos are nice once in a while.
