Good Morning! I am having lunch w/ my mom later today, so that will be fun! We are celebrating my bday (late), so probably some shopping too!

Beverlyjoy--Congrats for three days in a row! Take care of that knee...ice, ice, ice (I know you already know the routine!) I know, and I really dislike spending $ on the house or on our cars--not sure why, probably because it's never an inexpensive fix! We did half the roof last year and the other half this year. Last year it was on the verge of leaking, but since it came on suddenly we couldn't afford to have the whole thing done at once. What a great idea--recording the stories! That saying is so true. She knew a lot of our family history and had some awesome recipes, too. Luckily, we were smart enough to write them all down before her dementia "took over".

dgramie--I am so sorry for your loss. I bet your house looks great! Sorry to hear about the hail storm, though.

Have a great OP day everyone! I need to work on drinking more water and try to get a workout in today.

Still here, slipped up a bit the last few days, but no irreparable damage done I still haven't quite gotten into my new exercise routine yet, but I did go walking with my friend on Tuesday. There are a couple TV programs I like to watch on Thursdays so my plan today is to do the Free Step on Wii Fit while I watch.

Hi Chicks - I had another good day yesterday - that's four - I am so, so grateful.

Today is going to be a quiet home day. Paperwork and organizing my messy office. I hate doing it but love it when it's done.

sit - if a take any bite of food
journal
meditation
stretches
lots of water
put fork down between bites
I will read out loud to myself twice the advantages & reasons whyI want to lose weight.
My reasons:
- I will feel better physically.
- I'll be able to get up and down off the floor more easily.
- I will be able to wear a smaller size.
- I will be much happier when I look in the mirror.
- I will be in better health.
- My pieces & parts (back, knee, foot, shoulder, etc) & those pains will improve.
- I will feel that I have really accomplished something important.
- My family will be proud of me.
- I will feel less self conscious when I perform.
- I will do more things.
- I will feel more in control of this aspect of my life.
- My lab numbers will be in a normal range.
- I can avoid becoming a diabetic.
- I will live with food sanity - which I have wanted for a long time.
- I will be able to look at myself in a photograph and smile.
- I will be more active with my grandson.

breakfast - egg white scramble, ketchup, pnb toast, grapes
lunch - hc light chicken and veggie soup, slice of lite cheese
snack - small baked apple
dinner - chicken and brown rice, green beans & almonds
snack - raisin bran and skim milk

Rakel - it's wonderful to see you posting here.

Lottie - goodness - your illness and cough have lingered for such a long time. Feel better. Great plan.

Bumbee - welcome!! So glad you've made it through three days of your challenge. YAY!

MJ - happy belated birthday! I hope you had a nice lunch with your mom. Sounds like the knee is mending well.
Last Christmas my (DH"S) cousin made a spiral bound book of all the recipes that are in the family. He photocopied all of the recipes - so they are actually in DH's grandma's writing. Having her hand writing is a treasure in itself. Then the cousin gave the bound book of Grandma Minnie's recipes to every family at Christmas.

dgrammie - so sorry to hear of your uncle's passing. That stress and you had a good food day. GREAT.

I hope everyone has a OP day.!

Good Morning everyone! I had a great time w/ my mom yesterday. I did well w/ food choices at lunch, BUT ended up running late going on errands and grocery shopping w/ dh later on and made horrible food choices later on. Picking myself off, dusting myself off and a fresh start today! I did get lots of walking in yesterday, so that's something.

bumbee- Welcome!

lottie--glad to hear your cough is finally getting better!

rakel--Keep at i, I know you can do it!

Beverlyjoy--Great job! I know what you mean, I don't like cleaning my office, but it's a great feeling when it's done! When I get back to work, I need to 'schedule' some time to clean/organize! What an awesome idea w/ the recipes!!! Unfortunately, my knee isn't doing that great. I'll explain below. How is YOUR knee? Feeling much better I hope!

Rhonda, nicolen, and everyone else--Hi!

As for my knee, well, it officially feels worse since the surgery. I'm doing what I need to do to take care of it (rest, ice, elevation, exercise--but not pushing too hard, and pain meds). I see my ortho next Friday and at that appt I'll find out exactly what he did (ie: if he was able to clean up anything--which could explain why it hurts) and we'll come up w/ a game plan. I will need more surgery, it's just a matter of what he needs to do. I am hoping for the less invasive (which can always be converted to the more invasive down the road if it ever needs to be), but that all depends on what he saw during the surgery. We already know that under my kneecap is bone on bone already--that's what hurts so much now.

Today I want to get our Halloween decorations out. I usually have them out by now, but I kind of forgot! Oops! I am really excited because last year I found some really cute stuff at Kohl's on super clearance.

Have a great OP day everyone!!!

Oh, I almost forgot. I haven't started journaling, yet, but I have a notebook and a 'cool' pen! I need to start that today.

Hi everyone! I'm back from a week of hunting. The elk won, but we had a good time. So much exercise with all the walking and hiking and climbing, etc. I didn't count any calories and will be starting that up next Monday. We're going back up to the mountains this weekend to hunt with the kids. I don't think there will be much shooting done, but they need to get some experience in for doing the hunting part. It was great to get away, but then you have to come back. Reality was just waiting here for us. I found out that two coworkers were laid off. I feel terrible for them, but thankful it wasn't me.

Anyway, just trying to catch up. I'll be hit and miss this weekend yet, then back to work on Monday.

I am sorry to hear about the bad stuff going on with my accountability friends. It is tough to lose family members and it really puts life into perspective.

I'll be talking to you all again soon. Weigh in is Monday for me. Hopefully it will be a good weigh in!

Hi chicks....happy to say that I stayed on my plan another day - that's five. I am so grateful. I am now back to my sticker weight.

I did alot of the things I wanted to do with my program yesterday: ate only when seated (no standing nibbles or eating), repeated out loud my reasons for wanting to lose weight - twice, slowed down my eating, drank LOTS of water, meditation, and more. I am grateful. ( I didn't do my exercises - but, I already have them done for today)

My knee is feeling much improved than a week ago. Not all better - but, I am making progress.

I don't know what's for supper yet. But, here's what I have planned so far:

breakfast - 1/2 cinn/raisin english muffin, with npnb, boca bacon, grapes
lunch - turkey and lite cheese open face sandwich, peppers and lite dip
snack - yogurt
dinner - ?
snack - cereal fruit & milk

Also -
log food
only SIT when I eat
eat slowly
drink lots of water
stretches and strengthening
meditation
repeat my reasons twice

MJ - I am glad you and your mom had a good visit. So sorry to hear that your surgery has not given you the relief you and the doctor wanted. Hooray for your journal and pen!

slash = so good you had a fun time hunting. I used to live in Michigan - the first day of deer hunting was a day of no school if you lived in the more northern parts of the state. All the exercise and moving sounds GREAT.

Hi to Rhonda, nicolen, lottie, rakel, bumbee, dgrammie and everyone that stops by. Have a GREAT op day.

Good Morning!

I just ordered some pants and a couple tops from Old Navy--I had a $20 coupon and they had a sale! I have been looking everywhere for pants that I like and haven't found any. I found three pair online.

I looked into the fees for a massage at the resort I will be going to in a few weeks (for a conference). Umm, yea, I won't be getting one there. While I am sure it would be an awesome experience, it is WAY too expensive. It's ok, though, who knows if I'll even have the time. Thursday afternoon of the conference, they are showing The Soloist and the sister of the man the movie was written about will be there to speak. I am really looking forward to that.

Diane--Sounds like you had a great time. Coming home and getting back into the groove is hard. So sorry to hear about your co-workers.

Beverlyjoy--Great job! Glad to hear your knee is feeling better. Well, my dr wasn't terribly hopeful that the surgery would do much to help (I was hopeful, he was realistic). It was more of a "see what it looks like in there" kind of procedure.

I started journaling last night. It was kind of weird...haven't done it in a long time. I'm sure I'll get the hang of it again soon.

I have also been trying to focus on eating a bit slower and recognizing when I am really hungry. Last night I was about to have a snack and realized it was out of habit--I wasn't even hungry. I also made sure I have lots of tea bags--it's that time of year again when a hot cup of tea in the evening is a great way to relax.

Not sure what the plans are for today, yet. We have to go to the recycling center--stuff is piling up around here! I am going to put my halloween decorations on the porch....meant to do that sooner, but kind of forgot! LOL!!

Have a great OP day everyone!

Yes! I need accountability. I am calorie counting and my target is 1733 a day for weight loss. I am also diabetic so I have to eat frequently to keep blood sugar from having too many highs and lows.

Yesterday- total calories 1400

Gala apple
2 scrambled eggs
1 slice whole wheat toast plain
Hot Sandwhich- 1 sliss swiss cheese, 1 small can of mushrooms, 1/4 onion sauteed in a little extra virgin olive oil with garlic powder, on two slices of whole wheat bread toasted.
Banana
Brocolli Cheese Soup w/ 1 cup white long grain rice
1/4 cup red beans with onions
Peaches with fat free cool whip

I know I need more veggies, I just don't like them very much. Broccoli is ok, but only with cheese- LOL. I hate green beans and I only like peas when they are cold in a pasta salad. Otherwise I like corn, which is starchy and I don't really consider it a vegetable.
