Good Morning,

On vanity sizing - my problem with it (like others have said) is that it's not "real". I think it plays as big a role in the fattening of America as super-sizing at fast food restaurants. Even when people realize that the sizing has changed, mentally "I'm wearing a size 12 or 14" feels different than "I'm wearing a size 18 or 20", so people just keep eating. It's kind of like pricing something at $19.99 rather than $20 - you know it's only a penny difference, but studies show that we are more likely to buy at 19.99 - our brains just work that way. I understand that marketing is marketing, but when it's detrimental to the health of our children, our entire country - well, that just doesn't sit well with me. </rant> I don't have many pet peeves, but.....

I do shop in Jrs sometimes, but the jeans even in the same size are cut different, so they never fit right. Some dress pants, skirts, tops, and sweaters, will work though.

Meg, those sound like great deals! I love Talbots, but there's no way I'm going to have time today to go shopping.

I only have 2 curtain panels left to sew, YEAH! I've made 9 curtain panels plus covers for 6 cushions, plus done more little fixes and repairs than I can count and I still have lots of little fix-it things to do. Sometimes I wonder if it was worth it to buy something older and cheaper to fix up rather than just putting the money into something newer. Especially right now - we brought the RV home to test everything out (we store it a few miles away) and the hot water is cold and the refrigerator is warm. Not good (the did both work when we bought it). We aren't sure yet if it's something we didn't do right/turn on, or maybe a switch or electrical panel or?? If we can't figure it out today we'll have to take it in early next week and get it checked. Hopefully it won't be something expensive.

I had two small peices of pizza last night, and the scale was up half a pound today. Hopefully just water from the sodium. I'll eat light today and drink lots of water.

Everyone have a fabulous day!

Dagmar,

I often size down and get "relaxed" jeans/pants, so I get a smaller waistband, but more room in the thighs and butt. Fits my shape better.

Good morning! We had my stepson the better part of this weekend (Fri night through Sat at 2pm, today from 8am -1pm) so we had him for one dinner, one breakfast and two lunches. We fixed meals at home for every single one of them, no happy meals at all... Spaghetti, frozen baked Pilgrim's Pride Mickey head nuggets with frozen fries cooked in the oven, jelly sandwich and pretzels. He didn't eat a lot, but he doesn't always eat a lot of the nuggets and fries either... I was pretty excited - we have never fixed every meal at home when he's here...

About to go put the treadmill together after mommy picks him up. Woo hoo!
Good weekend everyone!

So last night I was heading out to my oldest grandson's 5th birthday party (and his mom's babyshower for her 4th baby) and lo and behold their was a mama beagle and her 2 pups scrounging for food on my back deck. They looked so starved with every rib showing. Me, Lacy and Shelbey gathered them all up. Put them in one of our 10 ft. x 10 ft. dog pens and gave them plenty of food and water. They were very friendly and came to us easily. We don't have an animal shelter anywhere nearby. I plan to feed these dogs, worm them, and put up signs all over town to see if the owner will claim them. If no one claims them after 2 weeks, we'll put up signs to give them to any good home that wants them. I'm sure my vet will help me find homes for them. They appear to be purebred. I think maybe they just got lost.

When DH called last night I told him of all the beagles. He just laughed when he heard we had fed and sheltered them. LOL, I'm a sucker for any animal! I wonder if our "Lily's Lab's" business now needs to become "The Hungry Hound Rescue Mission".

So, anyway with the birthday party and baby shower both, I managed to eat only 1 small piece of cake yesterday. That was a victory for me! Today will be exciting cause I have lots of housework to catch up on and lots of dogs to care for! (not to mention the 2 cats and rabbits also).

I hope you find their homes Lily! Beagles are notorious for running away. When I worked for vets, you can't imagine the numbers of beagles that were lost and found.

I have rescued more animals than I care to count so far. Luckily I haven't done it lately-- my husband would kill me!!

I am on day 3 of the house to myself. Still feeling weird but much easier to stay on plan!! Tomorrow very late my youngest dd returns from her trip so I won't be so alone. I doubt she'll want to spend much time with me when we both have our spring break next week though.

I have a repeat breast biopsy on Monday to deal with. I hope it is easier than the first one as it will be "ultrasound guided". The first one I got poked a million times so they could get the right area. Apparently they didn't get enough and now the area has spread so they want to repeat. I hope I'm not too sore because I still want to work out but I remember being pretty sore the first time.

The weather is beautiful here! Hope you all are having a beautiful Sunday....

I love and hate vanity sizing. Sure I am thrilled to be a 6, but the 6's I have from a couple of years ago don't fit, so I know it's all a lie! The real goal is to get back into my 2003 size 6 jeans. =)

Michele, I hope everything turns out well with your biopsy!

Lily, I'm so glad to hear you are helping the beagles.... I'm also a sucker for animals. I hope you can find their owners or a good home for them.

Happy Sunday, everyone!

Smile Black & White vs. Blue-Purple & Black

Kery - Ouch for the protests so near.

To keep you up to date with what I learn for U.S. news sources:

1) Michelle whacked Carla with "Bonjour" before Carla could hit her with "Howdy." That round was won by Michelle.

2) Michelle and Carla were forced to cancel a visit to a hospice "as hundreds of anarchists and other demonstrators went on the rampage." Michelle was wearing a black outfit with white blouse and Carla was wearing a purple-blue outfit with black blouse. That round ruled a draw.

I'll keep you informed.

Red face Evil stretch jeans

I got a reckoning this morning for all the extra eating I've been doing while DH stressed and whined his way through his exam (which was finally over yesterday ).

I usually wear size 10 cords to work in the spring that are several sizes too big so I can layer underneath if needed. On the weekends I've been wearing jeans with 5% stretch. I find they fit best. The size 8 has been fine .

Today I got out the size 8 cords to wear. No deal . Top button won't close and I look like a sausage!

So today was the start of monitoring what I eat again and cutting out some evening calories until the size 8 no stretch stuff fits properly again.

I can fool the scale but not my pants - is that a good life motto or what .

Have a great evening all!

Dagmar

Bill-- you are hilarious! Keep the reports coming!
I worked WW this morning and the person I was helping asked my name. When I told her, Michele, she said "oh, like Michelle Obama?". I had to plaster a smile on and say yes. At least lately we haven't been hearing about her arms and how great they look-- perhaps it is too cold in Europe for her to go bare armed-- I'm sure she will be when she gets back here though.

Why couldn't vanity sizing apply to bras but go in reverse? My bra size has dwindled with my loss of weight and it is depressing. Oh well-- you can't have everything!! (this part isn't for you, Bill!)
