Here in southeastern PA, a tomato pie is a thick crust, cold pizza-like dough with tomato sauce and herbs on top but no cheese other than a sprinkle of parmesan. It's pretty yummy.
I generally don't say anything to family about trying to lose weight. When I went down to visit my parents in January I told them I was trying to lose a little weight and I got constantly told, "You're not eating enough" and "You're too skinny". I felt like they were monitoring what I ate the entire trip... so now when we talk on the phone, I don't bring it up. I know they're just being good, concerned parents, but it can be frustrating.
I may talk about eating healthy or exercising around friends or family, but I don't bring up loosing weight, for the same reason as DoorAsPirt. The only person I talk to about loosing is dh and on the forum.
I talk about it with my family all of the time. We all struggle with weight issues and so they totally understand and get me. I also talk about it at work because everyone has seen my transformation and is really supportive. Someone made a comment about me getting anorexic one time, but it was kind of a joke (a bad one) and I just laughed it off. And a close friend told me that I would never use the treadmill when I first got it. Proved her wrong!!!!
