My MIL did Kundalini (sp??) yoga and still does the breathing thing to help her relax and fall asleep easier. She says she usually is asleep within 2-3 minutes of going to bed. Me? Not so fast! I ought to look up a class. The only yoga I've done is with the Wii.

Spinning? Eww. Not for me. Give me a treadmill any day!

louhou~there are plenty of people here who have lost in excess of 100 pounds. I'm sure your friend will find some motivation.

Morning! First the bad news, it was -10 COLD this morning. Still, it beats the high winds we had last week.

FOr the good news, when I was at the doc yesterday (annual), I was down 2 lbs from the last time I weighed "officially" which was the end of October. Which means I made it through Thanksgiving without gaining.

Goal - Midwife said it perfectly. You have not gained fat - it's your body healing. Have patience, things will be back to "normal" soon.

Michele - you should be check out the spinning classes, because they vary greatly. I have a friend in Philadelphia that teaches spinning. She spends a long time every week choosing her music, timing the rides to the music. She aims to have her students have a good experience as well as a cardio workout. At our gym, the music has no relation to the riding and it's strictly a cardio workout. Whichever way your gym does it, you'll can get a good workout - but yup, your butt will be sore.

Tonight is our library party - held at our local Italian restaurant. DH and I have pretty well decided that we will share an entree and each get a small salad. Plus I'm limiting myself to one glass of wine (esp as I'm driving ).

Hi all,

Just a quick post right now - I had a very strenuous and cold, windy day on the water and am going home to wash the mud off of me and my clothes. At least I definitely got my workout in at work. My body is very sore so no gym today! I'll be at the gym tomorrow though. I have a busy weekend filled with rehearsal, my chorus's Christmas program, and 2 Christmas parties. I'm going to work out and am committed to not going overboard with food and treats!!!

Pat, enjoy your dinner!

Goal, be patient with your body. Trauma and surgery can make your body retain a lot of fluid, even if you're eating completely properly. As I recall Meg was retaining a lot of fluid after her knee replacements. Be patient with yourself!

Have a wonderful weekend all!

Oooh, Dagmar, I want to be flexy and bendy! Might have started too late for that. I'll settle for being able to do a decent downward dog.

Goal, I'm with all the others about not worrying about your weight, but eating healthy and staying off the scale. Water retention really screws things up--physically and mentally (i.e., on the scale).

Does anyone else have an issue with how loud the music is in spinning classes? I don't spin, but even when I'm near the spinning areas, my ears start to ring. As I get older, I find I'm very protective of my ears and my eyes.

Way to go, WaterRat! Few people can say they've lost weight over Thanksgiving. Have fun at your party tonight.

Throwing will power dust your way, Megan! Have fun!

I went through the Starbuck's drive-through today because I had a freebie. After paying, I was "deared" by the barista. Okay, my hair is silvery, especially in the front, but I'm not old enough to be called "dear" by a 20-something. And I don't live in the South, and she didn't have a southern accent. Am I the only 50-something who absolutely hates being called "dear?" "Hon" is bad enough, but "dear" just makes me crazy.

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

Goal It's not fat you're putting on. Eat healthily and let your body heal itself. Stay off the scale for a bit and you might be pleasantly surprised. My cousin the anaesthatist (say that 5 times fast ) says that a lot of people retain water post -surgically for weeks and then suddenly whoosh! it's gone.

Megan If I'm being nosy please just tell me so but what is it you do for a living? I'm so intrigued by your mentions of the "boat".

Pat on the 2 lb. loss over Thanksgiving

Sheila The first time I was "m'am"ed (long, long ago) by the produce clerk at the grocery I literally looked behind me for the older woman he was addressing. Of course there was no one there. I have my dad's genetics - I look about 10 years younger than I am - so no "dear" incidents yet. When that happens I think I'm gonna mutter things like "young whippersnapper" under my breath to the person who calls me it.

Have a great OP weekend everyone else. I am ending all the pre-Christmas junk this weekend so probably won't check in until Monday.

Dagmar
