Okay, so . . . . I just ate a caramel apple.

But that's fall-related, not Halloween-related, so I'm still okay, right? Right? :hangs head in shame:

So, Megan, I made the vampire cupcakes and when I cut out the tops to add the filling, and cut off part of the top before fitting it back on, ummmm.....I ate the cut off parts of cake.

Alas....if you survived that temptation unscathed you are a better woman than me.....

Still no candy though! Happy Halloween!!!

Oh, those Vampire cupcakes would be the best thing to make for the premiere of Twilight!!! We're all so looking forward to that movie!

My DS is not trick-or-treating tonight and asked that I buy some "good" candy to hand out (in case we get anyone at our door). I was nice and got Reese's PB cups, Butterfinger bars and Snickers. He then asked that we give away the Snickers and Butterfinger bars first! I'm sure I'll have plenty on hand tomorrow. I'm sure I won't be tempted. Okay, maybe a little, but I can get over it!!

I totally ate the little cut off bits!!! Haha. Luckily they were pretty tiny. I did throw away the extra cherry pie filling, not eat it. The cupcakes themselves - delicious! I was good and brought them into work as planned, no cupcake fest.

Tips for the vampire cupcakes for anyone else making them - 1 can (21 oz) of pie filling is really enough for a double batch of the cupcakes. The frosting is also enough for a double batch. I halved it and it frosted the 18 cupcakes perfectly. The frosting is the most labor-intensive frosting I've ever made, clocking in 15 minutes of hand mixer time. Use a can if you're lazy/in a rush - but the homemade stuff is tastier.

Sorry for the food porn. Everyone at the office did think they were super cute!
