Goodmorning ladies : )

Dasmith, kudos to you for resisting all of those temptations yesterday You are doing it on your own! You just happen to be following a healthy regemented plan with guidelines, etc. I need those guidelines right now ....it helps keep me in line. It sounds like your doing great, keep up the good work! I don't think it sounds silly at all about your being 3 days in....I think that is super! Sometimes just starting and those initial first first few days can be the hardest for some of us (it is for me). I always tell myself, well I did it one day so i can do it 2 days, etc. etc. and then with time it gets easier as I begin to adjust.

I'm elated to have gotten through my first day! : ) I had some trouble falling asleep last night. Could of went downstairs andhad some salad or something but the sooner I break myself of any late night eating habits, the better! I feel much better already! boy I must of been retaining some fluids....so much less bloated today in my face and tummy and feel so much better already!

How is everyone else doing in phase1? Ladies, I have a question. I see we are allowed tomato but I don't see tomato sauce anywhere. I did a bit of reading last night and found out about the no added sugar in some of the classico brands but don't know if we are allowed tom. sauce in phase 1?

My fav greek veggie dish (briam) entails cooking it with some tom. sauce but I am not doing it if not allowed, I will compromise and cook my zuchhini and eggplant another way if needed. FOr those of you who can have the tom. sauce, I would be happy to share the recipe in the recipe secton.

Need to get my tail moving, hope you all have a happy and successful day.

full steam... I love and use classico all the time! It tastes good and I was pleasantly surprised at seeing no added sugar in the ingredients. Go ahead and enjoy. Only thing though, there are one or two, I believe the "sweet" basil has sugar, so be sure to double check the label of the one your grabbing!

Fullsteam, Hunts has a no sugar added tom. sauce . It's in a can. I doctor the tar out of it with more garlic, onions, bellpepper, fresh basil etc and it tastes great after that.

I really like to use it with ground turkey sauce over zucchini that I "shread" with a machine that make "spaghetti" out of it. Also wonderful with lasagna...make the lasagna the way you usually do, but instead of noodles, use thinly sliced eggplant. Just slice it thin, spray with a little olive oil pam and run it in the oven for a few minutes, then build the lasagna. After the first time I made it that way, my husband told me to NEVER use noodles again because he liked it so much better. enjoy! Both dishes phase1 friendly.

Hi Ladies,
I am on day 6 of Ph1 and only a couple times this past week have I craved something salty. Mainly last night I wanted Tostito's Lime chips and when I went to Wal-Mart I wanted to camp out in the Subway and cover myself in bread, but I resisted.

The only thing I haven't given up yet is my cocktails. I know they are a huge source of empty calories that is my biggest temptation. Other than that the hubby and I are doing great. I've lost 4.6 lbs so far but I think I am going to get hubby to hide the scale so I'm not on it everyday. Maybe once a week.

I made grilled zucchini for lunch today with FF beef hot dogs and I love the zucchini more than the hot dogs, when did that change?

I haven't been able to find frozen artichokes so I haven't been able to make baked artichokes yet. I don't know if jarred ones will cook the same.

Hubby is OOT so I am just grazing and eating leftovers this weekend.

The hot dogs are OK in Phase II
From the Phase II list:

BEEF
All hot dogs (beef, pork, poultry, soy) can be enjoyed occasionally (once/week) if they are at least 97% fat free (contain 3-6 grams of fat/serving).

Trader Joe is the only place I've ever found the frozen artichokes. I have three bags in my freezer (it's a 90 minute drive - gotta stock up!).

I would think that the canned artichoke hearts (not the marinated ones) would work fine as a substitution....although I think the canned ones lose something in the flavor department.

I am so glad we have a Trader Joe's close. I'll be there on Monday, stocking up.

I'm not a huge fan of the marinated ones unless I am making artichoke dip.
Which would be completely Ph1 legal, I would just need to find something to use with it instead of bread.

There's a great "dip" that has artichoke hearts in it... I think it has all legal SB things in it too... lemme see if I can find it. Then you can use it for a veggie dip.

Brenda - here is a phase 1 friendly spinach and artichoke dip. It's really great. I just made a batch.

HI ladies : )

Ty for the tips! I am very happy to hear that I can have tomato sauce! I can cook my veggies and my mini meatloafs (minus bread) when I have beef night, which is on the menu for tonight!

Lorianne, I have never tried the classico brand before and am eager to try it now, thanks : )

femmecreole, that's great to hear about the hunts as well as I use hunts and like it. Nice, so I have a few options here. Your eggplant lasagna sounds absolutely delicious!!!! I love eggplant and I am going to make that for sure. Yummy! ty.

For the briam (greek veggie dish) , I thinly slice (about 1/4") eggplant, green zucchini and white onion. I also finely chop a few garlic cloves. I preheat the oven to 400 and coat the bottom of a casserole pan with tomato sauce. I then layer the zucchini on the bottom, some of the onion, and sprinkle some of the garlic on top and some oregano and then dribble some more salsa on top and a little berio olive oil (however much alotted). I then put a layer of the eggplant down and repeat the process, and then put a second layer of eggplant down and repeat process. I love the eggplant so I put 2 layers. The traditional recipe calls for potato on the bottom layer but I have made it many times without the potato and it still comes out delicious.

I put water in the pan to top of veggie of line and I cook it (make sure top is coated with salsa and push eggplant into juice during cooking so it doesn't brown too much or dry out) in the oven for about an hour and 15 min. I think I am going to leave some of the eggplant aside to make that lasagna femme, that cheese in there sounds divine!

mmac, congrats on the weightloss that's great! I know what you mean about the scale. I hide mine and try and only weigh in once a week because my weight tends to fluctuate a lot and I go absolutely nuts when I weigh in more than that.

Nice tips ladies. THanks for sharing, that artichoke and spinach dip sounds real good too! Hope everyone is having a great weekend.
