Yay you Junebug for getting a handle on things before they get even worse. I wish I had had the sense that you do when I was a newlywed! I might not have had to pick a screen name like *yoyodieter*
That was the hardest thing for me. Sitting there on the weekend and watching DH tuck into the ice cream and wine while I had diet soda and yogurt or fruit. Bleagh!
Now that he is much more determined to take off the 40 odd lbs. he's gained over the last 4 years it makes it so much easier for me to stick to the plan.
And I think everyone in the universe has undone several weeks work in a weekend. Stuff happens. The trick is to only do this one weekend every few months.
When I get frustrated with slow progress, or that it's taking too long, I ask myself what else would I be doing? Five pounds a month is five pounds. Where would I be in a month if I didn't do it?? So, might as well, even if it is slow.
I gained 15 lbs during our 5 month engagement and then 10 extra lbs during the honeymoon period (putting me really close to my highest weight ever~this was before I found 3fc.) Trust me, you aren't alone. I know of a few other women who gained before their weddings.
I too, gained before my wedding. A co-worker of mine told me to stop eating so much or I'd be miserable. I did slow down, but still gained weight.
