Default lurker w/banana bread ?

Hi Chicks! I had a question regarding some banana bread muffins I made.
I'm on phase 2.
The recipe has 2 Cups all purpose flour (I used 100% whole wheat)
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup butter (I used smart balance)
3/4 c. brown sugar (I know is not good, but didn't use a substitute)
2 eggs
2 1/3 mashed bananas ( I used 1/2 unsweetened apple sauce)

makes 12 muffins
So my question is how bad are these for me? Any thoughts?

Umm... I'd say they are no no muffins... The flour and the sugar and both triggers.

Check out the recipe forumn.. they have recipes for muffins using ricotta cheese and eggs...

Well, it's the sugar that's the problem. In 3/4 cup brown sugar there are 175 grams of sugar. So one muffin would have 15 grams of sugar (not counting what's in the fruit). If you eat one and don't have cravings I guess it's okay, but that seems like a lot of sugar, and I would probably not want to risk it. I would expect it to trigger cravings for me.
You could try making these with artificial sweetener, or agave nectar. Or an even better choice would be the oatmeal breakfast bars. When made with bananas and nuts, these are like yummy banana bread.

Switching to whole wheat flour was a good move. Using applesauce instead of all bananas was good too - bananas are limited to 4 oz. in Phase II.
However, the use of real sugar makes this a non-Phase II Recipe that could set off cravings again.

i use mashed bananas and it cuts my need for artificial sweetener...

but those for sure are a phase 3 treat.

Wow, thanks for all the quick responses. I do make the Nessa bars (thanks ladybugnessa) and they are good. I guess I'll up my workout today and stay away from the muffins. Thanks guys!
