"The armpit of Japan" I lived in Tokyo for two years, I miss Japan a lot. I'm visiting again in September for a wedding and doing some travelling to places I didn't get around to. Enjoy hanami!!

I just started yesterday. Ive had an IUD for over a year and I still spot every month for over a week! Not cool. The worst part for me is the bloating and I get cravings, I find it very disheartening. If I can hold out though I'll get a nice drop on the scale in about a week!

@Riestrella: Thanks!! We're really looking forward to it. Super cool you lived in Tokyo for a while! It's very different from rural Kochi, for sure. I've only been there once, and only for a few days right after landing for an orientation where I was in a hotel and jetlagged out of my mind, but it seems like a cool place to be. 日本語をしゃべれますか?

@Claygirl1518: Man, that sucks. At least that is the one light at the end of the tunnel: the bloat going away and seeing that encouraging drop at the end of the week!

Speaking of that end of the week, I'm finally starting to see my promised drop! Down a full pound since yesterday. Love this part!

Yeah, I bet it's different from anywhere in the world! Did you work for Interac by any chance? My boyfriend worked for them and sounds like his experience. 少しだけ! Congrats on the drop!!

Clay - I'm not on any birth control yet I still spot for about 5 days before a period. Super annoying. I've got an app on my phone that's gotten really good at telling me when the big day will hit, thankfully.

Oh, good. Interac sounded like an awful company. I applied for JET but got put on Standby and never got the boot. Seems like it's a great program!

I watched a video called something along the lines of "your period in 2 minutes", I like to watch it to remind myself that this is all normal and I'm not just the exception! I think they do miss out things like cravings though...
I need to look that up! That seems like a super cool video! Did you watch it on Youtube?

Hey guys, I have a question. After your period is over, how long does it take you to start dropping all the water weight?

I ask because I thought I was starting to lose water weight on Tuesday, but now it's Thursday and nothing has changed since then... I know I shouldn't be getting frustrated at the scale after only a couple days, but my deadline for when I wanted to hit 170 is coming up in a week and a half, and I'm getting antsy.

I'd say within a week of my heavy flow ending is when I start seeing a drop. Some people get the "whoosh" a lot sooner but I find it's within a week.

It takes 4-5 days after the 1st day of my period or the last day on my pill pack if I'm taking bc continuously

Thanks, Riestrella and Bloominbutterflies! I finally got it a day or two after I posted the question, so yup, it was right about the same time that you two said: within a week of TOM.

I love the thread title!

Can I ask y'all - how far in advance of your period starting do you find you retain water or your weight loss stalls? Mine grinds to a halt about 7-10 days before which seems kinda long to me

Tbh Knoxie, I don't know for sure because I don't weigh myself everyday esp. around the bloating time, but if I had to guess for myself based on how my stomach inflates probably 3-4 days before the big red or last pill on my pack for bc continuously. Speaking of the devil there is only 3 pills left in my pack so here it goes...the bloooaattt ugggh. =_=

Oh but I've heard from ladies on here about the big whoosh the week after the period. I've experienced it myself a bit, although my program is turtle slow compared to most of you guys.

So maybe that's why the rest of the time seems slow? Because the week after gives you a whoosh?
