I work in a plus size clothing store and one of my recent customers told me about ACAI. I was curious about it and googled it. She told me she lost 25lbs by just taking the pills and not doing a thing. Apparently Dr.Oz & Oprah have featured this on their shows, but was hoping to get some feedback from you ladies.
So, has anyone else tried ACAI? If so, what are the pros/cons? Any advice would be great.
I know that acai is considered a superfood, but I can't imagine how it would contribute to weightloss. Is there a diet plan associated with it? I would imagine the promise of weightloss would have to do with the diet rather than acai, which is a berry.
I did read some articles about companies selling Acai Berry supplements that were scams. I can find the same products on Amazon for 1/4 - 1/2 the price.
Junebug: No diet plan is associated with it, other than taking 1 pill before breakfast and 1 before lunch (or at least from what I read).
I'm always really skeptical about things like this. Honestly, I don't think there is a single pill/food/drink out there that will make you lose weight with no diet and exercise.
I got roped into this years ago, its a scam and several of these companies have been sued because they fraudulantly say that Oprah, Dr. Oz and Rachel Ray have endorsed them (which they haven't).
Ever hear of the placebo effect? This woman was probably taking the pills and unconsciously started eating healthier foods, so she lost 25 lbs.
I definitely don't trust anything that says it can make you lose that kind of weight without doing a thing. To lose weight you need to consume less calories than your body uses in a day, or vice versa, you need to burn more calories than you consume.
There is no "magic pill" to aid in weight loss, just good old-fashioned hard work.
Laneyy I love your avatar lol but I have to agree I did try something similar to this product claiming to detox using acai berry but all it did was make me pee often, so I felt dehydrated rather than anything helpful. Some of those wonder pills can be really dangerous so the best person to ask would be your PCP, especially if you may be taking anything else like birthcontrol or etc. because they can counter act your meds without you knowing.
I know two people who posted pictures on another weight loss forum and someone stole their pictures and used it for one of the Acai berry diet pages when thAt's not at all how they had weight loss success! not to say it doesn't work, but just watch where you get it from if you decide to go forward with it, I'd hate for you to get ripped off, there are so many scammers out there. Like someone (lackadaisy I think) said though, eat healthy, workout because quite frankly your going to have to teach yourself good eating habits in the long run to maintain a healthy weight so start now and steer clear of fad diets.

I wouldnt do it, you really never know what random-unapproved by the FDA-pills can do to your body. It could actually damage your liver or kidneys or something, you just never know.
Eating berries is a good idea though Lots of fresh fruits and veggies, that will help you lose the weight
This is definitely one of those things that the old saying "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is" applies well to. Think about it. If there was some pill that magically made people lose weight, do you think there would be many fat people around? No, because everyone would take a pill, get thin, and that would be the end of it.
Your friend who took the pills either had a serious placebo effect going on (she thought the pills were helping her lose weight, but she was unconsciously making better choices) or she wasn't telling you the whole story of her weight loss plan.
Last time I checked, the only method that works is the D n' E Plan. Aka, diet and exercise.
Just jumping onto the scepticism boat here. Also, just because Dr Oz endorses it (and I'm not saying he does for this particular product) doesnt mean its a great product. He's often said things that leave me going "huh?", to the point that most of the time i watch his show for the same reason i would watch Oprah- for entertainment, not serious advice on my health or life
