Default Easy filling breakfasts

Hello Ladies!

I have to get up at 4am in the morning to be at work. And i try and get a good breakfast. I am currently on nutrisystem so I eat like a bar or their muffins or scones which are like 150calories ish, a yogurt, and a piece of fruit. But I find myself wanting more around 8am or so. ANy ideas for breakfast that are fast and easy or take little preparation? Possibly something with more protein or fiber to stay filled up?

I have 1/2 cup rolled oats, 2 Tbsp of flaxseed meal (lotsa fiber!), a scoop of protein powder, and a cut up banana. It's kind of boring, so I add a packet of truvia or something similar. It keeps me full for quite a while, but on the same note, it is packed with quite a few calories. And it gets old, but for me, breakfast is the easiest meal to be "boring". it's there. nothing else is tempting me. So I put up with it. good luck!

Egg muffins! At the beginning of the week I take either Egg Beaters or I beat eggs I already have and pour them into muffin tins that have been sprayed. Sometimes I add mushrooms or peppers, I always put cheese on top. I bake at 350 for about 20 minutes (or until done). You can store them in the fridge and just heat them up when you need them.

I have cottage cheese, usually 2% milkfat, and 1/4 cup of granola - its usually about 200 calories - and then I have 3 or 4 hard boiled egg whites about 2 hours later - total that's about 300 calories and it keeps me pretty full.

Awesome idea, Jen!

I'm an oatmeal person, too. I usually do oatmeal, a piece of fruit, and some sort of juice or coffee. Maybe a small slice of cheese if I am particularly hungry. I also spread things out... I'm no morning person, so I eat breakfast once I get to work. I'll make my oatmeal, eat it at my desk, then decide if I want to get up and get my fruit or something else.

Oatmeal and yogurt. Mixed together. I know, I know, sounds sketchy as ****, but OMG it's like freakin dessert. I have had it nearly every morning since I originally tried it almost 2 years ago.

I bring 2/3c oats in a baggie and an Activia to work and then microwave the oatmeal for about a minute. Mix in the yogurt and voila! 1 cup of oatmeal and 1/2 cup of yogurt for a total of 4 points. It'd be 3 if I went to a fat free yogurt but I really like Activia.

I've been bringing soft-boiled eggs as well and the combo is so freakin satisfying I can't believe I haven't done it before.

Just a head's up- they aren't very attractive, but they sure are savory and great in a pinch.

I generally have the same thing, or something really close to it.

Today I had:

Mini whole wheat bagel, 110 cals
1 tbsp SF strawberry jam, 10 cals
1 tub Dannon light/fit yogurs, 80 cals
1 16.9 oz water

200 calories and I'm good till my lunch. I'm up at 5:15 for work, but I don't eat until I get to work, just after 7. At home though, I'll generally have hot tea with a splenda packet, while I'm getting ready....

I have an early lunch, it should be at 11, but I generally don't eat till 11:30 or 12. Today's lunch is 14 baby carrots - 35 cals, an easy mac - 210 cals and a cherry coke zero. I'm off work at 3:30 and usually have a snack when I get home. Yesterday, since I had cucumbers at lunch, I had baby carrots... so today will be swapped! Cukes and low cal sour cream dip (sour cream and spices, it ends up to be about 50 cals)...

I know that was too much info.... but... I think you can never have too much info!!

At the beginning of the week I poach four eggs and put three in the fridge. Then in the morning I drop one in some water for a few seconds to heat it and put it on a whole grain toast with a wedge of laughing cow spread on it. I LOVE it. And it's like.... 70+110+35... 210 calories? And I use high calorie bread.

Something else I got on here was to make a serving of oatmeal and mix in two tablespoons of peanutbutter. I add in a packet of splenda or stevia and it's like eating a bowl full of peanutbutter or something. It's delish and keeps me full until lunch.

I love this idea. Do you mean you take egg white liquid and poor it in the muffin tins? What does it taste like? Cals? Fat? Protein in it?

I wouldn't use egg whites. This is the product I use:
http://www.eggbeaters.com/products/original.jsp

I use between 1/2 - 3/4 cup per muffin, which lands me anywhere between 60 and 90 calories and 12-18g of protein (not including cheese, which is minimal or any veggies). I think using real eggs is comparable.

I used to do egg muffins too. it's more like a quiche. I put in spinach, artichoke hearts, and lean sausage. it's pretty low cal because one thing of sausage (which is really the only thing with significant calories) goes across 10-11 breakfasts (2 muffins each).
3/4 c. egg beaters
3/4 c. cheese
10 oz spinach
1 can artichoke hearts
ground lean sausage
scoop of frozen onions

mix together, put into muffin tins (Usually 22-24) and cook for like 25 min. I freeze them, too, so I can just heat em up, and if I don't want it one day, they won't go bad.

Drool. You really jazz yours up! I never thought about spinach, artichoke and sausage! I think I'll give that a go.

^^ oh and I don't like eggs. basically the point of them in the recipe is to hold it all together. if you like eggs, you could add more. and if you don't like those veggies, switch em up!

Also...it's a good idea to spray the muffin cups...or it's a pain in the rear to get them out.
