Default A little motivation...

So I was thrift-store shopping with my mom today and they had a ton of jeans marked down. I found a pair of Arizona size 9 jeans for 99 cents! I'm far from fitting in a size 9 at the moment, but I thought it would be nice to have something I could look at everyday and motivate myself a little more. AND, you can't beat 99 cents!!! Does anyone else ever do this? Get clothing that is too small to motivate yourself or look forward to?

Sorta kinda yes..Usually i will look through some of the smaller sizes and imagine sometime when I can actually wear those clothes. To be honest, for a long time I loathed looking at the small sizes because I had a lot of animosity that normal and skinny people wore things that are popular and I was (and still) wear pretty basic clothing because its so hard to find cute stuff in my size. I dont know if it was because I was jealous or if it was because i felt like they thought they were better than me..but back to what you said, it reminded me of the other day because I went to a thrift store and saw a t-shirt with cherry blossoms on it and had Japanese written on it (lord knows what it says, i hardly know any Kanji, just katakana and hiragana.) it was way too small but I REALLY liked it..I almost got it for the same reasons as you but I felt silly so I left it. I am considering going back and if it is still there and getting it next week.

oh yeah ive done it too. when i go shopping, i usually will pick out on shirt or pair of jeans i totally love but wont try them on when i get home. usually they are too small so it gives me motivation to be able fit into my favorite new clothes.

I just bought a size 6 in jeans- we'll see how horrible that is when they arrive!

I frequently will buy things a *little* smaller as it helps my motivation. Especially if I really love what I bought.

Not usually. I don't like to spend money on new clothes until I know they can fit. That's just me, though.

I've been doing it for years, and sometime I can fit into them and I'm excited, but then I can't fit into them anymore. I recently got down to a size nine and was so excited to show off all my cute jeans, then my fiance got sick, and while in the hospital I think all I did was eat, not I'm back up to like a size 12 and I'm so bummed to have to put away my size 9's. And I just bought a pair of really cute jeans in a size 8 for $3 at kmart. My goal is to get into them by july.

Totally. It motivates me like few things do. Especially putting the clothes on and seeing my self inch closer to them fitting properly. So it's a total rush when it finally does fit.

They do this on The Biggest Loser and it's exciting to see them fit into things they had lost all hope of fitting into.

for me, the best motivation to keep going was going clothes shopping after i lost weight. i remember i once took into the changing room 3 different sizes of the same top as i wasn't sure which one would fit. the check-dude outside the room eyed me a bit strangely, but i did tell him "i've lost some weight and i am not sure", to which he just smiled and nodded.

grrrkgrrrl
p.s. and the smallest one fit

This is actually a bad habit of mine! I've bought too many clothes in a smaller size. I still fully intend on fitting in them eventually but I don't even want to know how much money I've spent on clothes I can't (currently) fit in!

I always do this. Only if its a ridiculous bargain though.
Brought a top for $5 when I first started that looked awful on me. Now its too big
