Default Any thoughts?

Recommiting to calorie counting (and exercise), but I've entered a new phase of my life.

When I was calorie counting before I was in the 1200-1400 range, however I am now TTC. Any thoughts as to the appropriate range I should be in now?

I find that the more fit I become I actually need more calories then less. Outside of exercise my life is pretty sedentary. When I first started, 1300-1400 calories was enough. Most people say as you lose weight you need less but I find that I need more (I am around 1400-1600 now) because my workouts are more intense.

I think 1400 is a good number to start with and adjust from there. Remember the quality of foods matter. If you are eating healthy and high in fiber you can get by with less calories.

I eat way more calories than that, and I am still losing weight! I am starting at 1800-2000 cals a day on average. I am so hungry at 1400, but I am also fairly physically active, and that probably plays a role.

Since you are TTC (me too btw) I would eat on the higher side of the calorie range for loss (1500-1700.) Calorie restriction is not a good idea when you are pregnant, so I would err on the side of caution.

I'm not sure if calorie restriction would hurt your efforts in TTC so perhaps it'd be best to maintain or lose very slowly right now? Just a thought.

You only need about 200 extra calories a day while pregnant, so what Zenor said seems right on IMO for when you are TTC.

Oh, and have lots of fun trying you two!!!
