SB was recommended by my Endo when I was diagnosed last year I just never started it because I'm always looking for a quick fix diet not a healthy lifestyle because I'm not to bright. So I started SB today hopefully getting smarter for the new year.

SB is great for PCOS patients. I had great success on it last year.

The first couple of days are rough as your body literally goes through a detox, but stick with it because you can do it!

Heather,
There is a testimonial in the SBD book from a woman who went undiagnosed for years and then finally went to a Dr. that ran tests and said she had PCOS and she did lose on the SBD, so your memory is correct.

Jessie, I agree that the Met XR is the way to go. My husband and I went through 10 years of infertility treatments. Everything from clomid to injectibles. We could not afford in-vitro. I got pregnant four times but misscarried each time in the first trimester. When I was switched from glucophage (the name brand) to the generic metformin XR we had just gone through our fourth loss in two years and were taking a break to move into our new home. I was so busy with the closing and the packing and the moving that I did not have time for fertility visits. After four months on the met XR I got pregnant on my own. Due to unstable cycles and taking time off from the doctor I did not even think twice about going a long time without a cycle and it wasn't until I was 17 weeks pregnant that I thought maybe I am and tested positive!

My ob said it was a once in a lifetime thing, but 10 months after having Olivia we got pregnant again on our own with Zoe. I never thought I would have to make the decision to have my tubes tied after 10 years of trying to conceive without success, but now I have two lovely daughters. I believe that much of our success was due to the Met XR. Good luck to you!

Looks like i am starting SB Monday.
Currently all i have been doing is cutting portions and trying to not eat bad carbs. it's worked for the most part. But i feel that i need some more structure in my diet. If anyone has any pointers feel free to sendem my way.

You might want to check out the PCOS subforum as well, lots of ladies here are in very similar positions.

OMG! This is my 3rd time doing SB and losing weight AND my 3rd time getting pregnant!! We were actually trying to avoid, which has never been a problem in the past but obviously we weren't careful enough. I am still in shock, this wasn't a good timing.

Diana, Thanks for your testimonial! One of my biggest concerns is miscarrying, since they say women with PCOS are more likely to miscarry. Metformin is supposed to help prevent that as well. I am still feeling good with no side effects! I go up to 1000mg on Wednesday.

I was telling a friend yesterday...when we decided to try to get pregnant, I told myself I am not in any hurry, I am only 25, and really that is true. But as soon as you start thinking about it...it's all you can think about!! I wish I could just stop thinking about it and let things progress naturally. It is hard when it seems like everyone I know is getting pregnant effortlessly or on accident.

Lovemysgt, congrats on your little one on the way!

Jessie

Default Can SB make my mommy dream come true?

I have been searching for a few months for some plan to follow as my weight loss has stalled since August? I eat healthy....do NOT exercise nearly as much as I should.

I have been trying to have a baby for five years now?? I am so tired girls..I feel like I am running out of time. I am excited reading this thread...I honestly have never considered doing SB seriously. I did buy the book years ago, and never tried it.

I am not sure where my trying to conceive will lead me this year...I have two more prescriptions of oral fertility meds. I know the meds work better the lower your weight goes?

I was thinking doing Phase I for two weeks...then alternating between Phase II and Phase I for ONE week back and forth? I know it is a little drastic, but I really NEED to get on down. I am sorry if I sound desperate...I am just sad today...thinking about having a baby.

I am seeing an RE, and he diagnosed me with PCOS and put me on Metformin...2000mg a day. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

My RE constantly reminds me that the lower my body weight, the better my insulin resistence issue is going to get. My chances of conceiving naturally get better and better, and my chances of the ovulatory stimulants will be better when we're ready to try that.

I did the induction for two weeks, and at that point I did move on to phase two, but I was quick to slip back into the phase one anytime that I felt myself slipping.

Thanks! It was unexpected and not at the time we'd like but a blessing none the less.

I totally agree with losing weight contributing to fertility and the effectiveness of meds. I have 3 and 1/12 kids to prove it Seriously, everytime I have gotten pregnant has been during or after losing a significant amount of weight.
