Today was my one week mark on following the new plan. I asked to be switched back to the old one (purple w/lites). I was continuing to inch back up where I had been losing almost 2-3 pounds a week before. I have a long way to go to reach my goal (but I will reach it!) and I just know that the old plan is the way for me. I respect and appreciate that others are losing on the new plan, but for my body, that many starches & dairies just doesn't work for me! I am thrilled to be back on the old plan and am looking forward to having lost some weight by my next WI (Saturday...as we are closed on Thursday around here).

Well I am taking the plunge with out them knowing it sort of!

I am not eatting extra starch I cut 1 out and I am not eatting that extra dairy and see what happens the next few days. I am not going in until friday to see what will happen if i do this and when she asks me what I have done diffrent I can tell her I cut my dairy down 1 and my starch down 1. they may get mad at me I have no idea.

I thought about calling them and asking them if I can do that, so they don't deny me my 25% refund at my half way point. I feel better about doing it this way maybe its all in my head but I really like the idea of 3 starches not 4!

I am not going to lose weeks and not reach my goal because of some dumb starch and a dairy!

I really should just copy and paste this, it would save me the typing.

Plateus on the scale can happen and you can still be losing! I've been at the weight for 8 months--I was wearing tight size 12s in December, I'm wearing loose 8's now.

Muscle weighs more than fat, muscle weighs more than fat, muscle weighs more than fat! I lost 2 pounds last week, big deal, I lost an inch off the waist, that was so much more fullfilling.

It's a lifestyle not a diet, I didn't develop crappy eating habits overnight, I'm not going to break them so easily.

My body is losing how it wants to lose, I need to trust it.

Granted I'm on week 10 of maintenance so I've quit fighting or caring about the scale 2 months ago.

I couldn't agree with you more Megan !

Almost every day lately I've mentioned how my scale isn't moving - BUT I notice the difference in my clothes - and I'm on the 2nd notch on my belt.

I just want to clarify something from an earlier post. Muscle does NOT weigh more than fat. A pound is a pound. However, a pound of muscle is more dense and therefore takes up less space than a pound of fat. (Snowdogs (I think it was you) posted a really cool link to a photo illustration of this fact in another thread).

The point being that your weight might not change when you are in fact slimming down. That's why it's important to also consider the change in your measurements.

In the past, I have had the experience of being weighed here where I work (a major research university with one of the best nutrition sciences departments in the country) on a very sophisticated scale that calculates lean tissue, fat and water weight. One week I showed virtually no change in my overall body weight, but when I looked at the breakdown I had actually lost fat but was up in water weight. It was really cool to see that and know exactly what had happened in my body. I had been successful!!! However, without knowing the breakdown I would have been very frustrated.

LOL, you're right Cathleen! Just like a lb of feathers weighs the same as a lb of rocks :-) It's just the space that each takes up is different.
That would be cool to use a scale like that fancy one -too bad I'm sure it cost more than my house :-)

Well not to be rude at all but that muscle weighs more then fat , 1lb is a 1lb like someone said above. I am not saying it does not work for some of you but if i am losing on the other plan and not since the new plan and this is my 3rd week. It is to much of a fluke that new plan no lose and the old plan I had lost over 2lbs a week and felt great too.

I am still suppose to lose 4lbs this week and with the new plan there is no way thats going to happen if its not showing ANY lose yet what makes Tues-friday a miracle to have it happen. the fat fairy is not going to come and take it away with all the food on my new plan. I think the new plan is fine if i can go to plan 2 instead of 3 one less starch and I think I heard 2.5 Proteins.

If the chance comes I will stop in tommorow to see about a switch in plans to be honest with them, if they say no well then i will do it anyhow and paly like I am doing it there way. I am not going to waste my weeks and get all stressed out over this another day!

I have a huge fever blister on my lip from being so stressed out and aggervated over this. If I hop on the scale tommorow and it drops in weight I know why, I cut some of my food out of plan 3 to match plan 2

Steph, I think that we tend to know our bodies fairly well. I hope your COD listens to you and your concerns. At the very least, you know that the old program works and you still have your copy of it that you can follow if COD won't do anything to help you...

Megan, your words are encouraging, but perhaps more suited for someone who doesn't have so much weight left to lose. I think for some of us (at least me) it can be hard to accept the scale not budging when we are still quite overweight. We may not reach our goal weight when we get to a size we are happy with, but lose weight we still need to do...

Steph - I know this is easier said than done, but...try not to stress yourself out over having to lose 4 pounds this week. If you're trying to stay at 2 pounds/week, the scale doesn't have to catch up right away. I have had weeks where I lost 0.2 pounds and weeks where I lost 3.6...overall I have managed to stay right about 2/week. So if you don't lose all 4 this week, you may lose 3 next week or 2.5...
I feel that your counselor telling you that you need to lose it all this week is just discouraging you. You've come so far and you have plenty of time to get your average back up. Hang in there...it WILL happen.

I want to go see the cod and tell her what i want to do but I also want to just do what I want and say see told you so!

thanks for the support it is so very fustrating to have things moving and come to a dead hault and like somone said" have a long way to go" ...but not as far as a month ago!

Steph,
I feel for you I really do - but DON'T get discouraged or upset at the center or doubt that either plan works. Easier said than done

I went in to LAWL and signed up January 19th. Walked out feeling great about the decision and change in my life. About 1-2 months into it I started getting upset because of the restrictions and got this attitude
"What do they know? The counselors aren't dietitians etc. My dietitian told me this.. that... and that... and now LAWL is telling me this...." I got very upset and pissy and stopped going to WI's and then dropped out completely because "Who's LAWL and how do they know?"

I WANT TO KICK MY OWN BUTT !! for that decision! If I would have just shut my mouth and listened to them - I'd BE AT GOAL (or at a point I'm happy) by now- heck, a month ago I would have been.

But NOOOO, here I am only down 12 lbs since January because I didn't even START until June 1st, which was only 8 days before my previous set goal date.

So I say - as harsh as it may sound (sometimes that's what we need to hear) - Buck up, listen to them and just get 'er done !
(I say that in the nicest manor possible :-)
