Thanks. What kind of muffin? Can I have regular muffins? I had been eating 1 slice whole wheat toast with peanut butter and a bannana in the mornings. I can't afford to get the steel cut oatmeal yet.

When I said "muffin", I meant English muffin!

As for being able to afford steel cut oats - is there a store near you that has bulk food? I find my oats there for around $.80 a pound - much, much cheaper than those cans of oats that are $5 or more! Do some scouting around, I'm sure you'll be able to find them reasonably priced.

Do they give you diareaha? I ate some instant oats yesterday and today I had some bad diareaha. I was thinking I would ljust stick to my whole wheat toast and peanut butter.
Should I be drinking milk. I never drank it before.

I weighed myself today and weighed in at 234 lbs and my waist inch is 39. I was 244 2 weeks ago and 41 in the waist so I think I've done great. Yayyy me.

Mary instant oatmeal is full of sugars...and not You approved. Could be the cause of your problems. And, yes, you should be drinking skim milk.

Congrats again Mary!

Oatmeal shouldn't cause that problem, but in general, the early days of this diet were pretty gassy for me - I increased my fiber too quickly and it took my body a couple of weeks to adjust.

You don't have to drink milk, but if you don't, make sure you are taking a multi-vitamin that includes calcium.

You should try to get one yogurt in a day - it needs to be low sugar and probiotic - Dannon Activa Light is ok and Breyers Light is as well. There are other good brands that may be more costly - it seems you're needed to stick to a budget, which can be a bit tougher when buying healthy, good quality foods. I find my Breyers at SuperWalMart for $.50 each.

I will try the yogurt. I use to get a lot of my calcium through cheese but I don't eat it now. I just seem to get nauseaus if I drink milk. What is probiotic?
