Not if you want to maintain your health. It is recommended that you lose 1-2 pounds per week. 5 months is about 20 weeks. 20 weeks x 2 pounds per weeks is only 40 pounds. Now, if you aren't a habitual dieter, you might start out with much better results than just 1-2 pounds per week, but as the diet progresses, it usually slows down to that 1-2 pounds.

Also, being overly restrictive with any diet will cause most people to quit or binge which is just as bad.

Can I ask why you want to lose weight so quickly?

Allison summed it up nicely. It is physically possible but it is actually unhealthy and can lead to health issues. So many people lose weight quickly but find themselves gaining it back (and then some), so it often backfires.

Hey Pam,

That is a real tall order and it doesn't sound particularly healthy...My daughter's friend went on the fat and protein restrictive diet and lost a ton of weight very quickly...but then her hair and nails became weak and she lost a lot of hair (it was noticeable) and her nails became loose...

It took here a long time to get back her health and her hair...and she did this for a wedding...and the end result was not what she bargained for...

Really think about it...
Good LucK!

Unfortunately there isn't any healthy way to lose weight quickly, if there was I am sure we would all be thin.

All I can suggest is to minimise you added fat intake and also drink HEAPS of water. Everytime I feel hungry I drink a large glass of water, actually I carry a 1.25 litre bottle of water with me everywhere I go. I try to drink 2-3 of those per day.
