Sharing a piece of myself with you- a personal story... ^-~
When I was 13 I sat up on New Years Eve and wrote up a resolution with my best friend. We were 13 years old and 200+lbs. We laughed, excited for change, and desperately hopeful that committing ourselves to the college ruled paper in our best print would help- any help would be great, who knows? Maybe someone above would smile upon us and gives us a boost of much needed ambition. We sealed the paper with tape, and hid the New Years Scroll above the ledge in her closet. With that said- we swam everyday, but eat worse than ever, and eventually ballooned up to 240 and above. A year later... we couldn't bring ourselves to even touch it.
Seven years later, it was not forgotten, but had become something symbolic of friends with an evil hidden layer of failure. We vowed to open it when we where both healthier and smaller- smaller than our 13 yr old counter parts who were larger than their mothers. ^-^ I've lost 20 pounds, and recently my friend joined me at the gym for a pleasurable- albeit way too long (5 hr) gym session! She goes: "Do you remember the piece of paper up in my closet? I still haven't touched it." Thinking on it... I can't wait for us to open that piece of paper and glimpse the hopeful teens we were and feel the pride of the young women we have become. I hope we open it together, and I hope we are both pleased. A matter of fact- I know we will. A matter of fact... I am going to send her the link to this thread, and perhaps she will remember to the excitement of sitting up at her mother's counter and swearing over a piece of paper that had our biggest dream. Perhaps she will join the chicks- and remember that seven years ago we made a promise together that I don't want to take seven MORE years to realize. ^-^ I know we can do it... and there is a little piece of paper in her closet, like a paper prophet, that says "while long in coming- I told you you could do it. I told you so. =p"
Awwwwww! That was a wonderful story to read! I LOVE to hear passionate words, and THOSE truly are passionate! Just the fact that you shared this with everyone here lets me know that the DREAM is preparing to become REALITY for you!
Weight loss is a very personal and a very mental process! I never realized this until I began this, my LAST FEW DAYS in TWOland! How I let myself get to 275 lbs. is now beyond my comprehension! I am determined to "do this thang" no matter what! It was wonderful to hear your story, for it inspires all of us to dig down and find that thinner person that is inside all of us!
