Well Sojourner thanks so much for your input and your encouragement. I have been walking about 30 mins a day 5x a week. I was really thinking ahead about for about a month from now when the weather here will be too cold to walk outdoors. I've also just heard about these Walking Away the Pounds videos and I think I am going to give that a try. It's funny because I was just talking to somebody about this yesterday and I told her I wanna get off about 10 more pounds before I hit the gym. And I was thinking that would coincide with the colder weather.

As for the swimming pool, it is never going to happen, i don't think I will ever go in a pool again (sad face).

I don't believe I'm really answering this but here goes - You see my starting weight and you see my height, now 287 lbs on a 5 foot frame is like wow - a real lot. Now everybody carries their weight differently. As for me I carry a huge disproportionate amount of fat in my..... legs, yup and one is bigger then the other. I've seen 400 pound women with smaller legs then mine, heck I've seen 500 pound women with smaller legs then mine. So even if I'm lucky enough to get to my goal weight, which I am totally determined to do, (easier said then done, no doubt) I will have sooooo much extra skin hangin on these thighs and calves of mine that I will NEVER, EVER be able to wear a bathing suit, or a short skirt etc., etc. So there you have it, sad but true.

fed up,

Try not to be so discouraged about your legs. I have really big legs too.

I'm going to add a further enticement to get you to join the gym: All the other times in my life when I dieted WITHOUT joining a gym, I lost a disproportionate amount of weight in my upper body, which of course made my legs look even bigger. After 3 1/2 months working out at the gym, I have lost 4 INCHES off each thigh. And I truly believe that all the exercise helps with skin elasticity since you're improving the circulation to the skin when you exercise. Yes, you may end up with some saggy skin, but it will probably be less than if you don't exercise regularly.

It's funny you should say that because whatever weight I have lost has for the most part been in my upper body and now I look even more out of whack then before. I just think that no matter what i do there is gonna be a lot of extra skin in the leg area. I know you're right about the gym, but it's just not gonna happen this week, next week...........................maybe.
