Question Calogel - anyone tried it?

Hi all! I'm new here and this is my first post.

I was wondering if any of you have tried Calogel (the pills you take right before bed)? I took it a while back and lost 25lbs, but I was also doing South Beach at the time, so I was never sure if it was the pills or the diet.

I am now taking the pills again and they seem to be doing nothing for me.

Anyone else?

TIA!

Hi snowgal, welcome to 3FC!

Maybe Calogel has changed their formula since the last time you used it. More than likely, though, it was the South beach diet that did the trick, since it's a really good weight loss diet. I just checked the ingredients for Calogel and I don't see anything in there that should help weight loss. It has CLA which has been shown to help keep weight off, but not to help take it off. The other ingredients have not been shown to help, either. They always say otherwise, of course, but that's just the way the market is. Generally speaking, any product that claims you can just take it and lose weight while you sleep is a good sign of a scam. It takes a good diet and exercise plan to take weight off and keep it off.

Have you considered going back on the South Beach diet, or another diet plan? The Sonoma Diet is gaining in popularity, it might be worth checking out.

Good luck!

I think you answered your own question. You lost the weight before because you changed your calorie intake - nothing to do with any pills.

The company touts the pills as a "natural marine collagen protein formula". Of course, we all see the word "collegen" and think of all those cosmetic wrinkle creams and such, like collagen is a miracle or something. Here's the definition of collegen:

Quote:
The fibrous protein constituent of bone, cartilage, tendon, and other connective tissue. It is converted into gelatin by boiling.
So we're talking GELATIN...

Check out SupplementWatch's overview of collegen. Nothing about weight loss whatsoever.

Calogel = BS!

Hi Tia

I know absolutely nothing about Calogel and don't personally take weight loss products... but wanted to pop in and say welcome!

Thanks ladies!

I appreciate your insight and help. I kind of figured I was deluding myself that the weight loss was because of the pills. Back to watching my calorie intake and portion control!

Thanks!
Liz
