Thanks to everyone for the info! I tried the hummus, Athenos brand, from the deli section in Walmart. It was delicious! I already love chickpeas so I thought this would be an interesting food to try. I actually ate the hummus with my boiled egg whites, mmm, they were yummy! There were a few other foods that some of the posters suggested that I tried; Kashi GoLean Crunch and the Protein Pancake. I enjoyed them as well. I really appreciate getting new food ideas from all the posters because I get bored with eating the same things all the time. I am going to have my GoLean Crunch with some of my FF Yogurt in a little while. Can't wait! Thanks again!

If you have a Trader Joe's near you, they have a great hummus with finely chopped green and black olives - it's delicious! For a snack I often have a couple of tablespoons with a cup of tiny baby carrots for dipping.

Default Thoughts from a hummusaholic

I absolutely love hummus (spent several years living in Israel) and eat it frequently. Back in my premotherhood days, I made it from scratch, including soaking the dried chickpeas. Not any more! I buy it in the huge tubs at Costco. 16 oz. containers are also at many of my local grocery stores--either near the fresh pasta or by the "gourmet" cheeses.

Hummus is healthy but can be high in fat. I have to be careful to limit my portions and I generally measure 1/4 a cup and that is all I allow myself to have.

Tahini can also be good as a salad dressing--blend some with water, lemon juice, garlic cloves and cumin.

Question

I've never tried hummus, but I'd like to.

Does anyone know where to find nutritional info for it? (calories, fat, etc)

Also, when you make it at home, does it matter whether u use tahini or olive oil in it?

thanks!
