I'm really glad for you! I have a BF scale, too, so just a word of caution: if you want a more accurate BF reading, make sure to weigh for that in the afternoon -- otherwise, if you take that number to heart when you're weighing for actual poundage with an empty stomach first thing in the morning, you'll be in for a bitter -- and untrue! -- surprise. So think of that scale as telling you two different things, accurately, at two different times.....but not at the SAME time! OK? Those scales read body fat via bioimpedence, and your level of hydration impacts the reading, as it travels differently through bone, fat and muscle tissue w/water affecting the speed of travel. If you're well hydrated, the body fat reading will be much more accurate. Conversely, for our actual weigh-in, most of us like to get a "bone dry" weigh-in, so we get nothing "extraneous" -- like actual hydration -- on the scale's reading.
Which brand did you get? Mine's a Tanita, and I'm really happy with it. I know my BF% number both first thing in the morning and later in the afternoon, so I can track changes in the early a.m. number without taking the actual number to heart.
Great job facing the bullet. I swear, I'm positive I'd have started to lose weight a lot sooner if I'd actually known how heavy I was getting.
