Thanks y'all for your kind words. I felt really good on Saturday. I felt pretty, and not like a lazy bum. I did my hair and make up, put on some jewelry and perfume, and thought I looked fairly nice. It's a rare thing for me. And everyone complimented me on how I looked! I am so not used to that and I didn't know how to take it. I felt so good in that outfit, in fact, that today I bought the same outfit in different colors/patterns to wear it out later! I don't mind feeling like a lazy bum at home, but I shouldn't only have one or two outfits I feel good in for leaving the house.

I have also found that that little confidence boost has done wonders for my motivation and determination. I'm horrible at accepting compliments. Totally awkward. And will freely admit that I kind of don't even like compliments because I feel like I'm being lied to, and I hate dishonesty. But there is a little part of me that craves approval and attention and compliments, even as I hate getting them. My husband gets mad at me because I am so mean to myself, constantly calling myself different names and putting myself down when I look in the mirror. I'm working on getting rid of that part of myself, because I don't like it either. It's one of my New year's resolutions, actually. Be nicer to myself. I hope I can pull it off.

In other news, today was a good day. I stayed busy doing some food prep and kept almost all of it out of my mouth! (I will confess to pinching a Rolo when I was making rolo pretzel treats). I have 4 goals every day. 1) Track my food and stay around 1600 (+/- 50)... 2) Drink 100 oz of water... 3) 10k steps/1 hour activity... 4) Have oats in the fridge for breakfast I only have to do this every other day because I make 2 at once). I want to make all of these habits! I want these to become such a natural part of my routine that I do them without even thinking about it.

Waiting for Thursday to step on the scale, because that should see the sodium bump and TOM bloat gone.

Wow. That was a long post. I hope you didn't fall asleep!

I DID IT!!! 279.9!!! I can't believe I got under it, I could cry.

I was 19 the last time I was here and It feels great!

I will be spending the rest of the week being very very good so that my Xmas dinner and boxing day dinner at my grans doesn't push me back over. If I can do that, I will be one very happy lady going into 2017

Curvynotlumpy You were right! thank you for your motivation.

Fera You didn't make me fall asleep , I can understand where you are coming from. This year I wanted to clear my head, start my weight-loss journey and be nicer to myself. I have had a lifetime of friends and family telling me that I dress very very well considering at the time very limited plus size clothing. It doesn't stop me going back and wondering WTH was I wearing. But I have always had quite a unique fashion sense, but it doesn't stop me calling myself a variety of names in the mirror. When I was younger, I had the boys attention , but I was quite insecure and always thought that they were lying. Now that I am older, I can 100% tell that one specific boy who was my best friend, did like me, a lot. I can tell because he is still my best friend and I can see him get nervous when I get on so well with his wife . Sometimes we need to be kind to ourselves in order to grow more confident and boost motivation. I hope that you start to believe what people are telling you, I too need to learn to not be soo awkward when people say nice things . A weight-loss journey is a teaching journey, there are many things to lean. You are going great

Fera, I am the same with not weighing if I think I've gained. This thread is a project for me to overcome my fear of daily weighing. I am still not weighing daily, but I'm doing much better than before.

It's important that you feel good about the way you look, regardless of what type of clothes you wear, and you look very pretty in that picture! Wear what makes you feel good about yourself. I know we all like to receive compliments. I'm uncomfortable about them, too, but try to just say "Thank you" and nothing more. Just remember. Being overweight, fat, heavy, whatever you want to call it, doesn't mean we are bad people. We are good people who deserve love just like everyone else.

Scotsgal, congrats on your new low! I am sure you will keep going.

I am still up and down like a see saw but am working toward accepting that.

Good evening friends!

Just dropping by to say

@Scotsgal: Your came early! Congratulations to you; you've been working and wanting to see that number for some time

@FeraFila: Not here, Mandy. Beautiful post. I say when you know you rock an outfit why not get another one?! I'm thrilled that your self-confidence is rising. Yet another great benefit of weight loss and doing healthy and wonderful things for your body. And I'm glad your DH is getting on you about the negative self-talk. Nope, place for that, missy.

Wishing everyone a good evening. Tomorrow, I tackle the cleaning of my office. I'd love to do a control burn on the place but I'm pretty sure that would be frowned upon.

hello everyone! I've been reading everyone's posts every day but haven't found anything good to report, so I haven't been posting. I got a cold about 4 weeks back and I just stopped trying altogether. Now I still have coughing fits a month later, especially after simple physical activity like walking. Hard to imagine getting back to exercising right now when I get those coughing fits. And I still have no energy to cook (or anything much else either). It will get better, I just have to be patient.

Scotsgal congratulations on reaching such a great goal!

Fera you look really great in that picture

curvynotlumpy cleaning your office will feel liberating...once it's done

I want to wish everyone a great Holiday season!

Thanks Everyone , Just popping in to say that I stayed the same today which was very nice to say the least. I am having a low calorie day today to try and save some up for xmas and boxing day. I have been doing a lot of housework which will hopefully be burning off some extra . I have been battling with my vacuum this morning, the dog keeps leaning against all the radiators and shedding like a beast! She is about to get shaved Her coat has just went nuts in the last few years. She is 12 years old, still fully alive and kicking , but I can at least be glad that she sheds in clumps and not little fine hairs that get everywhere and up your nose.

Things we do for our furry friends.

Good morning

Not much to report here. I had breakfast with a friend/co-worker before we headed into work. I'll be diving into my marathon office cleaning as soon as I wrap up this post. Full tummy, alone in the office and Pandora set to Classical Christmas tunes--I'm all set!

@Martine: So good to see you! We've missed you. It sounds like you got hit pretty bad with your cold and now the cough. Yep, rest, patience and medicate if needed.

Wishing everyone a fine and productive day.

Hey all! It was scale day after giving myself a break for TOM bloat... *drumroll* 282.8! that's 3 pounds down from the start of TOM. That means I have 3 pounds to go by New Year's Day. I think I can do it... I just have to be super careful with Christmas food and treats, and make sure I get in all my exercise.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas, for those celebrating. On Christmas Eve we went to my in-laws and the food they made was delicious, but I was full for two days. I made the decision to get back to mindful eating today. I know I'm not 100% healthy, still having coughing fits, but if I wait any longer I'll have gained back all the weight that I lost. Starting the day with a healthy and well-portioned breakfast. Have a great Monday everyone!

up 4.8lbs tis the season eh?

It is very much likely to be water retention, as the Christmas meal was quite high in salt. I have also been stuffing my face with chocolate and pie . Today so far I have logged about 6,000 steps, had a nice 40 minute walk that really blew the cobwebs away. Today food wise was actually quite good considering I blew it at the last minute with dinner. Tomorrow will be much better, I plan on having my usual breakfast, a good lunch, getting some steps in around the house and maybe even a skipping session for some extra burn with my new skipping rope.

I have been playing around with my new fitbit charge 2 Its a little chunky and I think will take some getting used to, but I love playing around with some of the features, like the heart monitor, and seeing just how restless I am when sleeping.

Can't wait for 2017, and some new challenges

Will you please start a thread for January?
I would like to join in, if it is OK. I start tomorrow but find that an accountability thread is very helpful.
All the best!

Martine,
Do you have asthma?
I have asthma. It has many triggers and they are different for different people. A couple of mine are cold air and exercise induced besides the regular dust, aerosols, even a specific brand of disinfectant wipes (like the clorox ones). Yep, I am not making this up. Some people laugh when they hear "exercise induced" but it is real.
I have been fighting the coughing fits you are mentioning for a couple of months (colds, bronchitis and asthma) now and after a major asthma attack (exercise induced: intense cardio exercise lead to it) I ended up on daily meds for it on top of rescue inhalers, when in big trouble.
Take good care of yourself and I hope you feel better soon!
