Default I'm back

Hi ladies (and guys), I am finally back. I'm not sure if I told you this, but my roommate literally packed her stuff up and left with no warning (defaulting on the lease which is causing me to have to find somewhere to live ASAP), and as a result I had nowhere to put my computer. But yesterday I got a new table for it, so I am officially back online now.

I've had a few setbacks with my weightloss, I've still been exercising tons, but I gained back alot in the last 6 weeks (I'm scared to step on the scale ), but I am ready to get back into the swing of things now that the stress in my life has gone down a lot.

Welcome back! What a horrible thing for your roommate to do--that must be incredibly stressful. There's a lot to be said for living alone!

Glad your roommate is gone. No one needs a person like that in their life.

Good to see you back! We missed you!

Raelynn, that sucks about your roommate! Are you stuck with the bill because she defaulted on the lease, or was the lease in her name?

I'm glad to see you back, though.

Thanks ladies, I'm so happy to be back online.

My landlord doesn't seem to care that my roommate up and left. The lease was in BOTH of our names, but all the utilities were/are in my name (stupid me). My landlord is ticking me off, because I thought the lease would hold her responsible for 1/2 the rent, but apparently not. I'm still so mad -- my (ex-) roommate took the beaters for my handmixer (she knew damn well they weren't hers, and what good will they do her? now I have to buy a whole new handmixer), she took the plug in for my cell phone (which she also knew fully that it was not hers - I had to go spend $35 on a new one yesterday cause my phone was dead) and she took a bunch more of my stuff, like a box of my dishes (I have to go buy another set of dishes now because I now have no large plates), then there is all the utility bills just waiting to get paid. I am still so mad and stressed about this mess, my mom thinks I should take her to court but I'm not sure.

I think you should check with a lawyer about the whole rent deal...That doesn't sound right to me. Do you have something like a Fair Renter's Housing Board? They could probably help you cheaper. If you're in the right and you threaten your landlord with a lawsuit, he/she will probably roll over.

And, I think your mom is write - you should take your ex-roommate to court. Can you file theft charges for the mixer beaters and the cell phone cord? Sounds petty, but it might work.
