Sheila, according to one web site, the way to lose an average of 1 pound a week is to make a 500 calorie difference in the eating/burning ratio. They suggested to change your eating habits by dropping 200 calories a day, and burn an extra 300 calories a day. Did you put your lifestyle in your profile? By doing that I don't have to add the sitting around or work burning calories, as long as I add the additional things I don't normally do(weeding, extra time cooking or cleaning).
Believe it or not, vegetables are much better sources of calcium than milk.
Here are my favorite calcium sources -
-Dark green Veggie (Any Greens Collard Greens, Kale, Turnip Greens)
-Broccoli (my FAV!)
-Orange Juice Fortified with Calcium (I lighten it up with some club soda). This is also good for all those people with Iron problems (Denise!). Iron can not be absorbed without Vitamin C!
-Figs
-Tofu, check the label (Yep, I'm from California!)
-Soybeans (Yum, Edamame!)
-Power bars (Check the label!)
-Cottage Cheese
-Yogurt
duh..
I still don't get it. I click water in "goals".. then moisture shows up - then under "unit" it says "g"
Am I blonde or am I not getting it?
Sheila..
first you need to know how many calories you need to maintain your current weight.
let's say - 2300 calories
to lose 1lb per week you need to use 500 calories less per day. - Either through exercise or food. Exercise and work off 200 and eat 300 calories less. Therefore you should eat 2000 calories per day.
Here is my example...
to maintain my current weight of 218 lbs (5 feet tall) I need 2229 calories/day.
when I exercise I usually burn off 225 calories. There fore I still eat 275 calories less per day to lose 1 lb per week. My max calories for the day I work out would be 1954
on days I don't work out.. it would have to be 1729 (2229-500)
(Whacking forehead with hand) Well, duh! So now I'm understanding what that little box is at the top of the activities page. For some reason I kept thinking it was saying I was eating 3400 calories. I kept wondering why it was saying I was eating 3400 calories when, for example, I'm only eating 1400 today.
Well, if it's all working out the way it's supposed to, then I should be losing some weight given that I'm taking in 1400 and burning 3400.
I kept thinking I was only burning activities points, and substracting them from what I was eating, and thinking I could never get enough activity in to make that number be less than what I was eating. Either that or I was going to have to limit myself to one strawberry per day and go to three aerobics classes!
