This whole dieting thing is really getting on my nerves. How can I have one day off plan but still well under maintenance calories and gain almost two pounds, which appear to be actual weight since it's taking days to get them off? I ate nowhere near 6,300 calories over my goal calorie intake!

I'm going to lay off diet soda for two days and see if that helps.

My late weigh-ins are getting me behind for personals! Sorry if these are a little late!

Starbrite I'm glad you had fun at the party! Sounds like a blast

Diana fingers crossed for you for no reaction!

Gale, congrats on the new low!

Arctic Mama, I'm late on this, but !CONGRATS! on getting to Onederland!

Matilda, Nice to see you!

Cutie, WOW! Congrats on your first 5K!

Ophelia, nice drop

loveb, hang in there!

Angie Your pattern is so interesting to watch! It seems like a pretty consistent up and down of bigger drops and tiny gains, which end up at a nice net loss I tend to bounce and stick there :/

Gotta run now. To everyone else, and keep up the good work!

The answer is that the correlation between what you do and what you see on the scale is not (only) day-to-day, and depends upon many factors that are beyond your control, as well as the factors that are within your control. So you simply have to drop the mindset of "well I have been perfectly on plan for the last 3 days, where is my whoosh?" Instead, train your mind to think "well I have been 95% on plan for the last two months, and look - I have lost real fat in the last two months!"

I know it's hard. I know it sucks. I am very much an instant-gratification sort of person and it is MADDENING to me to have to work so hard for rewards that are so ephemeral, so theoretical, and take so damn long to be measurable. But, unfortunately, that's just how it is. I'm sorry.

The upside for me is that working through this for the last year and a half has helped make me a more patient person generally, an area where I really needed some work.

Anyway - hello folks, hope everyone is doing well. My report for the day: back down to my current low of 195. Onward, onward ... good strength, everyone.

I’m down 1.2 today and finally see a number lower than 219, I’m 218.6, yay! It’s been a crazy morning -- I woke up 30 minutes ahead of when we need to leave the house so DS and I jumped into our clothes, I threw food into our lunch boxes and off we went. We both made it on time, but I felt like I’d run a marathon, I had a lot of adrenaline pumping!

Starbrite -- Congratulations on the 1.1 lbs. I think you’ll see a big difference as you work with your trainer, sometimes you need someone else to help push you in directions you wouldn’t go on your own. Good luck with your interview.

Diana -- Good job on your .4 Lol @ the botox for your lips! I hope you don’t have any reaction.

Coondocks -- I feel the same way when DS is sick, sorry that he’s feeling bad, but rejoicing in the fact that he reverts to my little baby as well, and he’s 6. I ran into a lady one day when DS was very clingy, and she told me that her son was still the same way at times, even though he was 10, it was just that it was all in private. I’ve grabbed onto that idea and won’t be shaken…lol.

Roxy -- Good job on your measurements!

Rennie -- Congratulations on your whoosh! Kudos to you on passing up the Krispy Kremes…that’s tempting. I suggest just throwing them in the garbage -- that’s what I’d have to do to avoid eating them.

Ona -- Yes, please keep your focus. I feel a whoosh coming for you!

Gale -- Ouch, I hate those gains that come even when you don’t expect them. Oh well, you were on plan and active so it’s probably just one of those weird things our bodies do from time to time, I’m sure it will be gone quickly.

Kel -- congrats on your 1lb today and on getting your surgery scheduled!

Thanks for the encouragement, everyone! I sure hope this bounce is temporary. I know if I stick to my plan it'll be gone in no time.

@ Bulletproof - I'm not avoiding ALL sugar. I don't worry about it in my condiments and bread, etc. I don't eat HFCS as a rule (even in condiments and bread), so avoiding that is pretty easy for me. The sugar I'm avoiding is the junk. The granola bars and candy and ice cream and soda, etc. I'm usually ok with moderation, but I lose a lot more weight when it's gone from my diet completely. You're right, there is sugar in nearly everything. I find that I can avoid a lot of it by eating as much whole food as I can. When I'm not eating junk sugar, things like pineapple and bananas taste like candy to me! I think my so-called "bliss point" for sugar drops quite a bit and I can be satisfied with something that's not sickly sweet.

Oheliaphoenix Hi

Starbrite Congrats on the 1.1 pounds!

Coondocks I hope the little one is feeling better.

Fitgirlygirl Congrats on the measurements.

Vixsin Congrats on the pound and your 1000th post!

Love2b150 Congrats on staying strong against the donuts and for the pound!

Ona Did you buy anything fun while you were shopping?

Gale It could be sodium or a daily fluctuation. That stuff happens. We just have to keep our focus and keep going.

Cocomonkey I'm glad to hear that you will be getting relief from TTOM.

Willow Hi

Bulletproof I'm sure it is water weight from TTOM.

Paradise It could be water weight. When I used to eat Chinese food, it would take me at least a few days to get rid of the water weight from the sodium.

Carter Great job on the 195.

Matilda Hi

Angie Congrats on the 1.2 pounds.

Eclipse Congrats on the .8.

*Sigh* You're right. It's just soooo frustrating!! Thanks for the advice, though. I'll try to look at it that way.

Diana, I'm hoping for that, too! Let's see what dropping the soda does. Since I switched to bottles instead of cans, I noticed I'm actually drinking almost 2 liters of Coke Zero a day. That must have some effect.

I just spoke with the Dr's office. They said that Sulfur and sulfites are not the same thing. I still removed Magnum's (shellfish glucosamine) from the house and replaced it with a vegetarian formula. I am no longer going to take the Vegetarain Glucosamine with MSM (sulfur). I'll eliminate both and see what happens. It's all so confusing.

Paradise Doesn't soda have a lot of sodium in it?

Surprising weigh-in this morning. I checked it a couple times, but each reading remained 241.0 for a -1.4 loss! Wasn't expecting that after eating out last night. I'm feeling a little dehydrated this morning though, so that may be part of it; I expect a fluctuation back up tomorrow morning. But, for now, I will take it...lol.

Starbrite - Haha, I have felt the 'slosh' before...feels like a small ocean waving around in there. Congrats on the loss, and I bet your new plan will help melt off those last few pounds, pesky though they are. And, good luck with your interview!

Diana - Glad you've yet to have any reaction...keep us posted! Also, congrats on the loss, as well.

Coon - Aww, hope he feels better soon, and it's understandable to enjoy feeling needed and so loved...enjoy the little moments! They do grow up way too fast.

FitGirly - That's not a bad up at all, and it's always nice to see measurements move down like that. That's some great progress right there, no matter what the scale says! You must be working it hard.

Vixsin - Haha, thanks! I definitely need some declutter mojo today! Have fun with your corner, and congrats on the nice loss!

Love2b150 - Congrats on the loss and on resisting the Krispy Kreme temptation!

Ona - Ahh, you reminded me that today I was going to pull off all the sheets and blankets for a wash...glad you said something!

CoCo - I am happy for you, and wish you all the best with your upcoming procedure and recovery!

ParadiseFalls - You're doing a good job getting it to come back off, regardless of how frustrating the bounce has been. I also agree with Carter, this is just a small piece of the grander scheme of things. You've come a very long way already!

Carter - Congrats and onward indeed! Good strength to you, as well.

Matilda - Welcome back, officially!

Angie - Great loss, and congrats on breaking through the 219 barrier!

Eclipse - Nice loss for you, as well!

Reptogirl - Taco Bell is always a huge killer for me, so I've had to avoid it like the plague. The amount of sodium, even in their "healthier" options, is mind-boggling! Hope you're able to help wash it out with tons of water...good luck!

Ophelia, great job on the 1.4 no problem

Ah Diana, you'll find the culprit soon bought a white shirt, white shorts and a pantie girdle ,,getting ready to rock the whites and I had my arms out today and yesterday don't feel self-conscious about them anymore!

Great job Angie, you're on the move! you were wide open this morning thanks but this body of mine I just go with the flow..I have a couple of weeks with good loses then it has to catch up or something I just continue to eat right and what will be will be.Like my friend told me today,"just keep showing up"

Paradise, you'll have good days and bad days, keep a positive attitude and keep reminding yourself that this is a process and know that you'll stay on plan and get to where you want to be.you're doing great so don't be so hard on yourself you're working things out(with that soda) and lookin good.

reptogirl

Matilda

Gale

Eclipse,great job on the ,8

Love, great job on the lost your getting back in the groove and doing great!! resisting krispy Kreme

Coon, hope little man is feel better

Carter, great job getting back to your new low!

Bullet,it's from TTOM more than likely, have you started to notice a pattern of if you gain during TTOM yet? if you're saving and reviewing your journal along side your daily weigh-ins,that can tell you a lot. Thanks! I've gotten to the point where I'm just content, what will be will be as long as i stay focus, consistent and persistent..some weight will eventually get tired of fighting me and just come on off.

Kel,I'm happy for you everything will be fine

Willow
