This sort of "time travel" into the past is interesting, isn't it, Rosinante? My first major diet was at the age of 18, when I went from 166 to 134. My second was at 27, when I went from 225 to 173. Like you, I've noticed those "signposts" along the way.

One interesting thing is that I still have some clothes from the mid 1980's (early to mid twenties), when I had to maintain a weight limit of about 147. I've been too stubborn to throw them away, and I'm getting so I can wear them now. Do you have any of those kinds of relics from the past?

No, I wish I'd kept some!

I see kaftans, like I wore when I was 17.
I saw this summer's maxi dresses, like I wore when I was 20.
I see what looks like Starsky and Hutch knitted jackets in the shops this season - so many looks where I could have been the height of fashion!

The only relics I have are a couple of pieces I bought in the States in my late 20s, about 25 is years ago: one a delicate yellow sweater with frogs embroidered on; one a T-shirt with the slogan "I like my men to act like men - strong and childish". Wow, it's probably too sexist to wear these days!

Way to go, Rosinante! I do know what you mean about weighing a weight that used to be the "fat cow" weight....!!!

I know that when I was in my mid-twenties and in the 180s I felt like a cow extraordinaire. I really have to fight that tendency though. Being stranded for a while at this weight, I am absolutely losing sight of the fact that where I am now is almost 110 lbs thinner than where I was a year ago.

Funny though, I just realized that I'm wearing an old sweatshirt that I wore in college right now-- I graduated in 1983 and I weighed about 175 when I graduated. I keep thinking I was much smaller then, but I guess I wasn't.
