I am in between an 18 and 20. Does anyone know how much weight loss makes you go down a size. I heard 20 pounds is a size, but Im not sure if it is true. Or is everyone different. Thanks for the help...
I started at a tight size 24. I've lost 60 lbs and am in a comfy 20 now. I think it all depends on where you lose weight. But I seriously feel like it took 40 lbs to get to 22 and then only 20 lbs to get to 20.
Yeah, it would be nice if we could identify a set number of pounds per size, but it really doesn't work that way. Everybody is shaped differently and loses weight differently.
Definitely everyone is different. But many find that at higher sizes, it takes more weight loss to change sizes, and at lower sizes, it takes less. Another thing that makes a difference is that we often don't lose weight evenly. You may lose a lot from your belly one month, and a lot from your arms and face another month.
When I was 250 - it took 25 pounds for me to drop a size. Then for a while it was 20 pounds.
Then around 180 it was 10 pounds a size.
Now it is about 5 pounds and I can fit into a size down.
Yeah, no telling. Sizes are as much about your shape as your weight. At my weight right now, I wear a size 10 or 12 depending on the designer. I have a friend who is my height and weight and wears a 16. I have another friend who is taller than I am, but the same weight, and wears an 8 or even a 6.
Like everyone says it depends on your build, height and where you are losing the weight. I have also noticed it also depends on the brand of clothing. One store I was in their size 18, and another size 16. When I started I was in size 22-24. Now I am in probably a 16-14 (again, depending on the store). So if you average that out: ~12 lbs per size. I am noticing that I don't have as much to lose as I did before, before I drop a size.
I tend to lose from the top down. So I am down in pants from a tight 22 to a loose 18, but my bra size just went down another band and cup size. (from a 44 to a 38.)
I've seen lots of folks post that the bigger weights take about 20-30 pounds per size, the smaller ones nearer to 10.
I've just moved from elastic waist pants to button and zip non-stretchy pants. I've noticed I feel the difference much more in them when I feel bloated, or when a pound or two drops. (I finally believe all my skinny friends when they complain that their clothes feel tight if they put on a pound.) I'm guessing that the larger size clothes because they often have elastic waists and are more formless are easier to wear at a variety of weights.
