Work has been busy this week. I've also just joined a local biggest loser contest in my city - so I have to pump up the jam and WIN!
Monday was a well deserved rest day, Tuesday at the gym - upper body, solo bike ride and family bike ride, today I did my lower body and an hour of riding.
Lower body last night, which was awesome, I'll post it in the NSV thread too.
My husband went with me to the gym. I had him go through the regime the personal trainer set up for me. He couldn't hang at my reps or weights. My legs are stronger than my 6'1" 280 pound big ape husband!
He's very supportive, but he's always treated the weight lifting part as something 'cute' I do. He'll feel my leg muscles, and then show me his. One night I mentioned that I pressed 240 pounds for my reps, and he said he could do 600 pounds.
Well, I showed him!
Love that guy.
I also had an afternoon bike ride, which was marvelous.
Today I'll knock out one of the 3 5k's I committed to. No way I could jog the whole thing like you Lori- what an accomplishment!
I did 30 minutes Monday- Friday on the treadmill. I upped my speed to 4 miles per hour today. I didn't fly off the back even though I thought I would The incline is at 4.5. I love how easy it is to walk everywhere now, it's like muscle memory or something from all the work on the treadmill. I've been at it since January and I can really tell a difference.
Lori- are you happy with the bowflex? My son wants one and I've been considering it. I'm wondering if some back exercises would help my aching back.
H8cake - I do love the bowflex. We have had it for around 6-7 years. So, one of the older models. We have the leg attachment for it, too. I just like that it is there and ready to go when I want to work out. No drive to the gym, and it certainly does build muscle. I would love free weights, but don't want to purchase a set ($$$) and don't want to get a gym membership ($$$ and gas).
The exercise booklet that comes with it has some wonderful back exercises.
Thanks Lori, I think I'll watch for a used one. I wish I could get my son to use the treadmill since I know he needs the cardio too, but if he will use the bowflex than that would be great. I certainly need the strength training.
