Wow, great replies!

Like some of the recent replies, I agree -- focus on good habits in eating and exercise. Strive to be consistent! You'll lose weight. How much by August, I have no idea, but you're going to feel and look great!!

Also, remember the scale isn't the whole story. If you do well lifting, you can gain some muscle as you lose fat. The scale might not move down as quickly, but you're adding metabolically active muscle and shaping your body! Take your measurements now, because that's another great way to show progress.

As for the protein, I didn't worry too much about going over 20% until I started lifting weights more seriously. My trainer recommends for me to try to get 25% at least of my calories from protein. As I understand it, when you are weight lifting, protein helps repair and build muscle!
