The F-Plan Diet

The F-Plan Diet was created by Audrey Eyton. This diet, which is based on a book with the same name that was released in 1982, promotes a low-fat, high-fiber diet. The F-Plan diet relies on the belief that a high-fiber, low-fat diet will help dieters lose weight without being hungry.

The Diet

Eyton advises that dieters eat three meals a day. Staples of this diet are foods that are composed of complex carbohydrates, such as potatoes and whole grains. Other approved foods include fruits and vegetables. Dieters should aim to consume between 1250 to 1500 calories a day while also consuming 40 to 50 grams of fiber. Fiber is a staple of the F-Plan Diet because it helps your digestive tract stay healthy and moving. This will help your body flush out fat and cholesterol.

A typical day on the F-Plan diet features a high-fiber cereal with milk for breakfast; a vegetable-filled salad and a piece of fruit for lunch; and a lean protein plus a fiber-rich vegetable and another salad for dinner. Fresh fruit is advised for dessert.

Plenty of Carbs

During the recent years of the low-carbohydrate diet crazy, the F-Plan diet offers dieters a meal plan that not only includes carbohydrates, but even promotes eating them! Additionally, the basis behind the F-Plan Diet, that fiber will help individuals feel fuller longer, is scientifically proven. Fiber also offers additional health benefits, such as lowering HDL or high cholesterol levels and triglycerides.

For individuals who have been following a relatively low-fiber diet, suddenly increasing your fiber to 40 to 50 g a day may cause gastrointestinal distress and additional flatulence. The United States Department of Agriculture advises that individuals consume between 25 to 30 g of fiber a day. Furthermore, many individuals may experience constipation, bloating and fluid retention due to the high volume of carbohydrates and fiber. To prevent these symptoms, dieters must remember to increase their water intake to offset these side effects.


The F-Plan diet fails to promote an exercise routine. To maximize weight loss and additional healthy benefits, dieters should aim to do at least 30 to 60 minutes of exercise most days of the week.


Most dieters should experience weight loss on the F-Plan diet due to the low-calorie meal plan. The meal plan on the F-Plan diet is sensible and well-balanced.  The design of the F-Plan promotes health digestion, satiety and can lead to weight loss, lower cholesterol levels and additional health benefits.

To avoid digestive discomfort, constipation and other side effects linked to consuming such a high amount of fiber a day, dieters should aim to constantly consume water, tea, coffee and other calorie-free drinks throughout the day.

To maximize weight loss, dieters should incorporate exercise to their daily routine while on the F-Plan diet. The F-Plan diet is a healthy and affordable diet plan that may be beneficial for some dieters.
