Quick start to the thread before we get on the road. I did well with points on Saturday, even going out to dinner with my fitness friends. I had an OK day yesterday until the evening and then the snack attack PMS monster attacked again. My sneak peek this morning was horrendous but I counted the points and started my day today with a committment to stay within points as much as I can the next few days down in AC. At least I've been exercising, doing an hour tv program in Saturday and 45 minutes of yoga yesterday. I *have* to stop this downward (or at least in the case of the scale) upward spiral! Although I haven't recorded it officially, I think I'm almost back to where I was after the holidays - enough!!!
Have a great one and see you on Thursday,
Judy

Judy - Good for you for counting the points and getting the exercise in. Maybe a few days away will be just what you need to get your head in the right place and stop the downward (or upward) spiral. Have fun in AC!
Pretty much same old, same old here. This is spring break week for us as well, so Ana is home. John gets Friday off and will take Wednesday and Thursday as well, so we'll do some bumming around the city. Easter will be at my cousin's house - land of many appetizers. I'm just going to try my very hardest to eat sanely this week and get some exercise in. The sun is shining today, so it will be a good day to spend some time outside. Anybody read Fast Food Nation? I'm in the midst of reading it now. It will certainly change how you look at fast food restaurants.
Have a great day.

Okay, here's my first post for weigh in at home. The scale didn't budge, but I just think there's something wrong with it. Not really, I'm alway thankful that it doesn't go up at all. I did well considering we were gone to district wrestling on Sat. I just took a few acceptable snacks and stayed away from the concessions. I have alternated my WATP cd and pilates every day for two weeks consecutively. That's a feat in itself. Sounds like you all are on the run too. Carla, never heard of the book you noted, but from you comment, it might be a good thing? Monday's are always my worst day for eating and exercising. Seems the stresses of Monday back to work and recovering from the weekend give me an excuse to let my guard down on everything. I'm working on keeping my focus.
This is worth it....have a good week

Hi all.
Darlene - Congrats on the maintain. Always better than a gain. It sounds like you had a really good plan for handling the district wrestling match on Saturday. Good for you. And good for you for getting all that exercise in. Fast Food Nation is about the business practices of the fast food chains and the food service companies that supply them.
The yo-yo swang back up for me this morning - up a pound. I know that it's water though as my ring is tight. I also didn't take my diurectic yesterday, so that's a factor. John is home the rest of this week and we'll be going hither and yon. I'm going to try my very hardest to stay focused and be sensible.
Have a great day all.

Wow, it's a very quiet week in here.
Not much new here. We went to the acquarium yesterday, so I did lots of walking around. Not very cardio-intensive, but still it felt good to be moving about. Food-wise, things are going good. Today is a day of fasting, so that helps.
Have a good day.

Carla - I hope you have a blessed fast day today and a Happy Easter (I lol about the of many appetizers!) Sorry about the pound but it's good to know it's water. I hope the week of going hither and yon has been relatively stress free. Any workouts on your horizon (or has the hithering been walking???)
Darlene - I second Carla on congratulating you on the maintain. Way to go on staying away from the concessions. I'm the workout drill sergeant around here so that is great news about alternating WATP and pilates!!
I did reasonably well at AC foodwise (we won a bit on the gambling end). I used flexpoints for sure but really tried to eat and drink moderately. Well, the last night Tony and I shared a frito misto (read fried appetizer) and shared a desert (the other nights we didn't have desert). I exercised every day I was there and really didn't feel like I deserved the creep up on the scale that I saw. Now I *know* it must be water retention - food "out" is always more seasoned (i.e., salty) than stuff at home and TOM is nowhere in sight - and the water retention is severe - I mean yesterday my chest actually hurt from the water retention. Still, I don't think the scale should show a number more than after the holidays! I decided that I will go to my meeting tomorrow (the early one, I'm giving myself a full body massage for my b-day in the morning) but will probably take a no weigh day. I just can't face seeing a number (water or not) that is higher than when I started this year.
I gave myself yesterday and today as no school work days. I'm tempted to keep it up (I did a few hours work every day down in AC). Today was lovely - I met a fitness friend in the city for a (90 minute) yoga class with a great instructor we both really like. Wow, I will be sore tomorrow - the sweat was literattly dripping off me at times. I have a few challenges this weekend. We are going out to Krista's tomorrow and bringing an ice cream cake for Anthony's birthday - that's after takeout - don't know what that will be - probably pizza or Chinese. If it's Chinese, I'll get chicken with black bean (core which I think I'm going back to next week). Sunday it's to my mom's for my b-day. We're getting this take out chicken (roasted not fried) from a South American place we like. The sides will not be too friendly but I'll try to limit them. Then there is the chocolate cake my mom is making me. Sigh. I plan on exercising both mornings and having small portions, counting the points and then not letting me get off track any more. I hope the meeting tomorrow helps my head - I'm over PMS'y and not happy at the scale. Sorry to vent a little. On the up side, I've been enjoying reading for pleasure (read: playing hooky from school work).
Take care,
Judy

Judy - Ok, help out this feeble-minded (when it comes to memory) friend. Is your b-day actually on Sunday? I think it is, but I'm not sure. I love South American roasted chicken. What kinds of sides are you getting? It sounds like you had a great time in AC and did well, food-wise. I know what you mean about not wanting a water-weight gain freak you out at the scale. And don't worry about venting - that's what we're here for. As for exercise and me, I'm actually starting to get the urge to start moving. Maybe it's because spring is here (well, in name only in these parts - we had some snow this morning) and I'm done hibernating. I definitely want to get started with some hand weights. I may be the fat mom at the pool again this summer, but I want to be as toned as I can be. Enjoy the rest of your "no school work" day. What have you been reading for pleasure?

Carla - well dear friend, you came very close. My birthday (48) is tomorrow, the 28th. Yes, the South American chicken is yummy. I forgot the name of the side dish I loved but it's fried - maybe plaintains? I'm not sure but it is a bit naughty. I went to my meeting and did take a "No Weigh". It was a good move, I think. Based on that and the fact that yesterday's dinner (with Anthony) was pizza, I decided to make this a flexpoints week again. Otherwise, I'm just pretending to do core - there aren't enough weekly points to take care of the weekend and during the week. I didn't do badly yesterday - I ordered a salad as well and used a trick my leader talked about yesterday. I cut the pizza slice in half and left one half in the box while I ate the first. It really did seem like I was eating 2 slices. I read the new Nelson DeMille book, I think it's called Night Flight (?) It's based on the investigation of TWA flight 800. I finished that, as well as the new James Patterson Alex Cross novel and am now reading Stuart Woods, Reckless Abandon. I guess I gravitate towards mysteries for quick, fun reads. I'm glad you are starting to come out of hibernation! How about setting a goal from April onward of the number of workouts you'll do (the drill sergeant is coming out in me)?
Time to get back to school work (if I want to get in a workout before my mom's and the South American chicken and the home baked chocolate cake).
I hope you all have a very Happy Easter.
